When it comes to rock, I'm moreso into classic rock, yet the first tune was quite all right. I will add it to my library. I can listen to some metal but I can't quite enjoy everything. Per example, Black Sabbath would be a group I listen to often.

Yeah, I'm more of a modern rock/metal fan myself, though bands like Pantera and Metallica are pretty much staples when I'm listening to music. I do enjoy the occasional Black Sabbath song as well.

Metal is probably what I mainly listen too. Pantera and Metallica are always on my play list.

I'm also into slayer and slipknot and have been getting back into stone temple pilots recently.

I keep trying to like this band but they can't just hook me.

Re: Outkast

I can't stand them. The first two albums are passable but the rest is drek. Southern hip hop is and probably always will be generally terrible. Caveat: Little Brother is pretty good and local to NC.

Did you say Outkast is terrible?! Those are fighting words...seriously it's impossible not to like Outkast. They are the best hip hop duo ever and 3000 is top 5 of all time. On a side note little brother is great sad they broke up.

OK, you guys asked for it. This song has been in my head all day

Frank Zappa - Stick It Out (from Joe's Garage)

The first half of the song is in German, then repeated in English. Its about a robot sex pig. At first you listen thinking its a cute song in German until you hear the English lyrics about boinking a robot pig. Good times.

And - yes, sorry - I'm lazy so no YouTube embeds. Cooking dinner with the other hand.

Young Fathers is probably my favorite song of 2013. Typhoon is an incredible band.

I'm pretty opposite of you right now LamarMatic, I'm trying to get myself to listen to something other than southern rap, since I've been binging on UGK, Three 6 Mafia and the like for the past six months.

But Piñata by Freddie Gibbs & Madlib leaked today, and it's album of the year without a doubt. Madlib's my favorite producer and his beats just go so well with Gibbs' voice and flow. Madlib's best work since Madvillany imo.

thanks for the heads up. I see that it has got some good reviews and it being Madlib, I'll definitely give it a listen. I've yet to hear any hip-hop album from 2014, though I have Black Milk's latest work on my must-hear list as well.

I wouldn't call Little Brother's sound that Southern-ish though.

listened to that song two days ago. always a favorite. when i was in junior high i was a drummer in an awful garage band. we played mostly hendrix and cream songs. songs we played:

hey joe - hendrix
purple haze - hendrix
voodoo chile - hendrix
sunshine of your love - cream
badge - cream
white room - cream

the first tape cassette i ever bought was in the 7th grade (that would have been circa 1985-86 ish). before then i had always bought albums. that cassette was jimi hendrix - are you experienced. however, my favorite hendrix album is axis: bold as love (which is also my favorite hendrix song and one of my all-time favorite songs, period. i think this song is simply brilliant.)

and speaking of hendrix , who could forget stevie ray vaughn's versions of little wing and voodoo chile?

@logander - random guess... was that song in roadhouse? the scene where the old bad guy is driving down the road singing swerving all over the road and almost runs dalton off the road?
