Say the Pistons pick falls to us at 9 and OKC and NYK came to us offering players for pick 9.
What would you do?
a)Keep pick 9 and select _____________.
b)Trade pick 9 for Hardaway Jr.
c)Trade pick 9 for Jeremy Lamb

Option 'A' should be the first option if James Young is the target, but 'C' would be a solid acquisition that would make me happy. I would be mad as hell at Cho if he did option 'B'

I'd pick A, I dont want to help the Knicks...well because they're the Knicks and i think Lamb is overrated he cant even get off the bench for OKC

I'm surprised you didn't jump on 'C'.
I think they're all good BTW

Who would you pick?
So far Mr. KIA rates James Young above Hardaway Jr. and Lamb who are both more proven than Young. it's interesting.

If I was Cho, it would be option 'C', but I'm not. I believe Lamb could be a top-10 (maybe even top-5) shooting guard in this league once he begin to garner more playing time and the opportunity to learn from experience
However, I'm also high on James Young's potential in the league as a aggressive scorer with good size at the shooting guard position
I like Tim Hardaway Jr., but he's not worth trading a lottery pick for. Hardaway Jr. could become expendable to the Knicks for a lot less within the next 2-3 years

I would really worry with Young about Hendo lingering around and Kemba getting stuck with 2 wings who can't shoot or facilitate.

That's a erroneous way to look at it. That's like saying Reggie Jackson wouldn't be any good because he couldn't get off OKC's bench his first 2 years in the league
FYI, Lamb received more playing time in his 2nd season for OKC than Jackson did

James Young can shoot. He was inefficient as a freshman at Kentucky, but I think he'll dispel that notion on a better structure team

I agree 100% it's just that he's a rookie and we have major shooting issues so the question will be can he shoot right away.
Hardaway Jr. and Lamb give that.
They oust Hendo.
James Young could take a couple years while Henderson is still here.
Unacceptable for Kemba if MKG is to get increased minutes at SF

If Charlotte draft James Young, they'll be able to afford to allow Henderson to stick around for his final 2 years under contract while Young groom behind him, and that's if Young doesn't surpass Henderson, which wouldn't be that difficult

I don't doubt that. I don't want Kemba stuck 2 more years though.
If you draft Young then I want something done with MKG immediately.

Like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if Young supplanted Henderson sooner than later. There's no guarantee that Henderson will be demoted no matter what moves they make this offseason. It's hard to pinpoint exactly how much Cho value Henderson as a player. Based on the fact that he was willing to trade him the previous season for a 1st rounder, I would want to think he's expendable though

I think Cho would prefer a win-now move despite the richness of this draft. If they were so enamored with this draft they would have never signed Al Jefferson imo.
I think the Pistons pick with SVG there now is trade bait for a win-now player.
I want to see how fans compare players like Young to Hardaway Jr. and Lamb.
I think guards of their caliber are more realistic trade targets than Klay Thompson obviously so we should be talking about them.

well jackson was also drafted 12 spots lower than Lamb

Re: Fake Trade Thread 2014-15
I know most of us want to get rid of Hendo, me included, but we don't have to make any drastic moves to replace him this offseason. We were a net positive team with Hendo in the starting lineup. It just so happen that we could've been better as evidenced by CDR temporarily replacing him in the starting lineup.
We need to focus on replacing Hendo but at the same time we need to focus on adding quality depth. Preferably I would like for that depth to be young enough to grow with us.
I'm not really interested in grizzled veterans at the end of their careers in a desperate attempt to win-now when we ain't winning sh*t but the 1st or 2nd round before getting trounced by the Heat.
We are building a culture to win but at the same time we must keep our youth for when the time is right. We're not gonna be championship contenders unless we somehow got Carmelo or K-Love this offseason.

Young is very similar, he is bigger (almost 6-7) so he will have a size advantage over most SG's and he weights more than both of them and has low body fat so he is strong but he isn't quite as athletic as Lamb and Hardaway, and in terms of shooting he isn't quite as good but that will improve when he gets into a system and doesn't have to be the primary perimeter scorer and in terms of defense i think he.Lamb and TIm are about the same

I think they're all very similar despite the size differences you pointed out. The main difference for me is the timeline and I do think the 2-year Big Al window matters for branding of the Hornets. These inaugural seasons will make a first impression and lasting imprint.
I truly suspect the Pistons pick will be dealt.
I'm curious if it's worth more to GM's as pick 9 (McDermott, Young, Harris for most teams) or as a top-1 protected 2015 pick from the Pistons minus Monroe (Charlotte can force him off their team with a max offer).

Re: Fake Trade Thread 2014-15
Jefferson is just a stepping stone, not a means to a championship. Who cares about his 2-year window? What happens if we sign Deng old overrated ass and Stephenson to start over Hendo? We still won't be better than the Heat. We'd just be setting our growth and development back a few years while Deng is on board to be paper mache champs that ain't winning nothing. If Jefferson can lead us to a championship during his 2-year window then great but the odds of that happening is as good as me getting married in 2 years.

Al is making us a respectable franchise that is plenty, we just aren't good enough to be a contender and wont be until Kemba's/MKG/other young players primes in 5-7 years unless we somehow manage to get a superstar to come to Charlotte
