Did it really fall off that bad? Any way to explain what happened to the show without spoilers?

what I can ask to both of you is - are there really that much NBA-related jokes on it? It supposedly has a lot of jokes that reach a small sample of the audience, yet many of them are about the NBA or sports in general.

From what I remember, it had a couple episodes that featured an NBA player (Detlef Schrempf, Roy Hibbert) and maybe a couple jokes or mentions, but not nearly enough to watch it for that reason.

Spoiler:
it was my favorite sitcom there for a while, at least on par with Sunny. last two years, even since Ben and Leslie got together, the show was more about them and their relationship as opposed to all the hilarious side characters. Having two main characters get together in a romantic relationship after years of teasing is the death to any sitcom. There was also the distraction of Leslie on city council and Ben in Washington DC. And Andy left the show for a while (most likely while filming Guardians of the Galaxy). And most recently Rob Lowe and Rashida jones left the show.

They need to go back to what got them there - Ron, Tom, Andy etc...

Which version? The Showtime USA version or the english version?

I made it thru the first 2.5 season of the USA version before I finally quit. Really good show for a while, probably still is...

Yep. You would need a place in which to get animal crackers.

ok...

it's just that this one comedian who is a writer of the show was on Zach Lowe's podcast. from the way he talked about 90s NBA quizzes on sporcle (jokes only me and 7 other people understood) and jokes about the NBA on the show I assumed that it's something more noticeable.

The show itself is very Indiana-centric, so now and then sports figures come up as well. Lots of Larry Bird mentions, several Colts appear in an episode, and Detlef Schrempf and Roy Hibbert play themselves in a few episodes.

I think Chris Bosh is in an episode as well.

Oddly enough sometimes when I'm discussing the show I'll mention Zach Lowe. Of course the response is "Who?" because I meant Rob Lowe.

Not currently watching any series at the moment, but I would highly recommend to you guys:

- Breaking Bad
- Oz
- The Shield

I had the weirdest experience with Oz. I don't think there's a show as good as Oz that I didn't watch until the end. Admired how ahead of its time it was and it certainly was thrilling, yet after 2 seasons and a few episodes I wasn't particularly interested of what will happen next. It almost seemed like a non-sequential series. New characters will show up and slash the throats of some old characters, but some of the old characters will rape some of the new characters to death as well. I didn't feel the need to get through it and find out how it ends.

Then you might like the podcast he did with that Joe Mande guy, especially if you like Parks & Rec.

I'm also a sporcle maniac. Especially when it comes to NBA quizzes.

My comedy watch list is currently Brooklyn Nine Nine, Modern Family, New Girl and SNL.

Not really watching any dramas that are currently airing. Through Netflix or Amazon I've been watching Homeland, West Wing and Band of Brothers. Watched all of Breaking Bad and that's probably my favorite show of all time. I also really like Sons of Anarchy but am a couple seasons behind (last one I watched was Season 5).

I've considered watching Oz. I watched the first episode and enjoyed it, but I just couldn't go into another deep dive of a show of that dark nature. I had just watched The Wire, The Sopranos, Sons of Anarchy, and True Detective and just couldn't dive into another show of that dark, violent drama. I would have gone into the looney bin.

It is basically all I do. Most of my closest friends are all spread out over the country so going out at nights doesn't really happen anymore for me. My wife works night shift as a nurse so she is gone three nights a week and that is when I typically get all my shows in that I don't watch with her. I get home from work at about 5:30, eat dinner, watch a show or two until a sporting event comes on, when that goes off at 11 I catch a couple more shows before I head to bed. Then Saturday and Sunday mornings before football is when I really crank them out.

I watch wrestling, ESPN, and Sons of Anarchy.

Thats about it.

I used to be a huge wrestling fan. My buddy still is and goes to any show that is near him. I try to talk to him about it, but I have tried to watch a few times and the writing and story lines were just horrendous. The guys suck on the mic now. It seems to be more about the in ring product when I preferred the era when the in ring was just a side story to what was really going on. The days of Stone Cold bringing in the beer truck and Mankind fighting hell in a cells, and guys getting ambushed in the back.

Probably the next show that I will start watching. Steve Buscemi might be my favorite actor and that combined with the fact that it's an HBO series make it a show that I must to watch during my lifetime.

I suppose "Game of Thrones" is the best TV series I haven't seen but I have a feeling that I might not like it that much. First off, I'm a type of person who enjoys movies and TV about our world. No matter how good the movie might be, I'll be annoyed for the first 40 minutes that I have to dive in this whole new universe before I accept it. And, second off, from what I've heard it's more about the author and the whole game he plays with the characters and that they are almost solely used for plot twists more than it's about the characters themselves. I don't like the sound of that.

I was the same way about GOT that you were. I am not a sci-fi, other universe, Lord of the Rings, type of guy when it comes to shows and movies. I prefer more "realistic" shows in the universe that resembles what I live in. I had run out of shows to stream after I went on a binge of all binges and a couple of friends said I should watch it. I gave it a chance and it took me awhile to finally get a couple characters to latch onto, but I do enjoy it. It is not top tier echelon like The Wire, The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, etc. but it is a good show.
