It was obvious (though Rick never mentioned it), but I'm seeing sources today saying that it IS indeed a 10-day deal. So I'd still expect us to offer our MLE should a PG hit the buyout market.

I honestly like the signing. He's quick, and really good at defense. His NBA stats are actually pretty good for a third string PG over limited time. His D-league stats looked lacking. At least he can do something really well, and he's not undersized like Brian Roberts.

Seems a wasted pickup but who knows?
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I remember this guy, he got tossed in a game vs us I think 2 years ago. It was Zeller rookie year and he fouled Zeller really hard and got ejected I think.

As a player he is nothing special, decent defender. Biggest thing is we are only picking him up to play emergency minutes in case Kemba or Lin get hurt. I want a guy who has 30-40 NBA games under his belt if thats the case. Not somebody who is killing the DLeague. We have Harrison, why pick up another guy just like him?

Its all about being able to trust him if we need him.

Thanks for the honesty.

He played for Hetzel in Canton.
In 2013-14, while playing for current Hornets assistant coach Steve Hetzel, he earned First Team All-Defensive and Second Team All-D-League honors after averaging career highs of 13.9 points, 6.9 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 32.7 minutes played.

And he was on a ten-day contract. The league still fined him the $15k or whatever, which is half of his entire ten-day contract

My impression of him is that he's competent and heady enough to be a Brian Roberts type of player. Comes in and is capable of handling the ball, making some shots.

Better than Sherron Collins at least...

Damn, $30k for ten days of sitting on a bench.

@WojVerticalNBA
Charlotte will sign Jorge Guiterrez to a second 10-day contract, league sources tell @TheVertical.

I like it, but I'm really surprised we're not putting the MLE to work.

So were we just cheap with Lin? I thought there had to be a plan to put that money to work.

We must have told him that we had plans to use the MLE on a wing (we know of Belinelli and Alan Anderson as far as guys we targeted) and that all we had was the Bi-Annual. Of course, the MLE can be used every year but now we've forfeited next year's Bi-Annual by using it on Lin.

We should've reached a handshake agreement with Lin instead of signing him right at the start of free agency. Then, once we struck out on our MLE targets, we could give a portion of the MLE to Lin. That way we'd still have the remainder of it to use in-season (not that we have thus far) AND we'd still have both the MLE and Bi-Annual next season.

I like Jorge as a 3rd string PG better than Roberts because he is taller and can defend better. Plus he does not look to shoot every opportunity that he gets. He also looks like he belongs in the NBA, which is not something that can be said about Harrison at this point in his career.

I'm surprised they re-signed Jorge for another 10 day and not wait a few days to get Lawson.

No need for another midget, ball dominant PG who cannot defend. Jorge has looked good in this game.

I agree that he looked good last night and in his previous previous appearance. He has speed, balance, coordination, and savvy. He also looks to pass the ball: three assists in twelve total minutes over two games.
