I think its more likely that Clifford just wanted his front court rotation to be four centers and this is our attempt to accommodate him. I actually don't know if I like this just because it might be an indication that we are still committed to Clifford being our coach.

The second-round thing is gonna carry long after Cho is gone.

I think this is two teams who traded players out of their rotations for players who will be out of their rotation. Exciting stuff!

Not sure why this would mean we have a big going out. We traded a big for a big.

I didn't even realize he was all-rookie last year.

This trade actually adds more guaranteed money for next year so... more to come.

I'm liking this less and less the more I think about it (viewing it in a vacuum as a standalone move). We traded two picks for a guy we don't actually need for our rotation and who has effort/conditioning issues and might not even be an NBA player. I'm definitely leaning towards this being a move to accommodate Clifford inexplicably thinking we need more size.

Additional moves could actually make this really nice and completely change my mind, but we've seen plenty of examples in the past of us making trades/acquisitions to appease Cliffords system that just further imbalance our roster, so I'm not going to assume anything else is happening until it actually happens.

And in the meantime, opponent's would score 40ish during the time he is on the court. With Porzingas down, they needed to drop in ranking, it makes sense to get JoB, perfect fit. I can't wait to see a Kanter/JoB frontline.

I guess Frank is gonna find a new home soonish

Me thinks Dwight might be moved. Cody back in the starting lineup, with Willy running with the second.
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

We got the much better player in the deal, but I'm concerned there's another trade coming.

Why can't JO'B get on the floor in CHA? I hope it's the 1st in a long line of deals

If it holds (JOB and a couple of 2nds we'd sell for cash), I really like the move. Doesn't move the dial apart from the fact that it upgrades our frontcourt when the next inevitable injury happens to Cody, but Willy is talented.

EDIT - I think there many on this board that disregard Willy entirely as a player - he was all-rook and puts up solid #'s with minutes. Far better fallback (or second unit player) than JOB

Some Knicks fans initially thought Monk might be included in the deal. Lol.

Patiently waiting to see if Dwight, Cody, Frank, or Marv is getting traded.

Dwight was brought in to help us win this year. We aren't winning this year, so if there is a way to get some kind of future return for him, that could be a good move.

If we trade Dwight for anything decent I might have to consider my stance on Cho's job future.

If we trade Cody my head is going to explode.

Yeah, two seconds for an at-best backup C doesn't seem like a smart move for a team that really needs a rebuild. Those seconds can easily result in a player the same or much better than Hernangomez. Seems like a move Cho and Cliff would totally be in to, though. Hoping for more to come...

The history of just selling 2nd round picks makes me think this is OK. At least they are getting something for the roster instead of cash in MJ's pocket.

Pretty excited with the news. As I said the other day, I'm obviously biased with this trade due to the possibility of having a Spaniard playing in Charlotte, but I think that we won the trade. As you have said, we do not have a good record with 2nd round picks (either with who we pick or an immediate selling) and Willy is better, and capable of being way better, than JoB.

Another trade must be in the works, though. I would bet on Howard, as _Tijo_ said. With regards to Willy, he is not the lazy player someone said before. With the national team, he is pure effort and really helped Spain in our latest championships as a replacement to(or playing alongside) Pau. Of course, the NBA is not the same and perhaps, after last year success, he gave for granted that he was going to play, but still 23 and good work ethic. Hope he thrives here :)

Hope I can now buy a Hornets jersey in Spain.

Ive always liked his skill set. My only concern is the Knicks fans saying he came into the season out of shape and got beat out for a rotation spot by Kyle O'Quinn.

If we don't do any other moves, this could be viewed as Cody or Dwight injury insurance, which I still wouldn't hate.
