Why cant the nba get a bubble together for these teams and let them scrimmage and practice for 3 weeks or so? This is a travesty for developing teams.

They talked about it but it never happened

Jordan himself argued that it would be foolish for all 30 teams to participate in the bubble. I think he was right, but jeez man you're putting your own team in a competitive disadvantage. The Hornets and the other 7 teams need to at the very least be able to practice and scrimmage.

My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I really don't think a second bubble is going to happen.

What a crock:

“Sources say the National Basketball Players Association remains concerned about the safety concerns that would come with creating another location for the other eight teams to compete (Charlotte, Chicago, New York, Detroit, Atlanta, Minnesota, Cleveland, Golden State)”.

It has nothing to do with the safety concerns of the 8 teams and everything to do with a second location with bottom feeder teams not generating the revenue for the NBA that the 1st location will.

If it was safety concerns they wouldn’t have moved ahead with the 1st location.

Don’t p*ss on our legs and tell us it’s raining.

So weird watching Kemba play without shooting a ton of shots. He did nail a buzzer beater 50 footer and late game 3. Not sure how Boston plans to use him in the playoffs, but I'd definitely be giving him a lot more shots against guys like the 76ers and Bucks.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

The Wizards would no doubt cry bloody murder, but the non-bubble teams should really be the only ones getting a top 4 pick this year. I still don't think that makes up for the loss of player development time, especially since this draft class seems shaky, but it's at least an effort to make things equitable. If anything the lack of sure-fire superstar talent in this year's draft should make that decision even easier, no one's going to whine nearly as much about losing a shot at Anthony Edwards (or Wiseman, or Ball) as they would the next Zion/Lebron/Shaq.

its hard not to love Dame at the moment. He is playing out of his mind.

Melo finally swallowed some pride and got fit. Now he's affective again.

Some (very low) stakes for the Hornets over these last two bubble days:

The Celtics are currently tied with the Clippers for the 4th-best record in the league - which means the top-53 protected pick we got for Kemba will convey - it's just a matter of whether it's pick 56 or 57.

The Celtics are currently playing their last game vs. Washington, down 5 in the 2nd. The Clippers finish up tomorrow night vs. OKC. So, root for Washington and LAC.

It's a small thing, but Kupchak has enjoyed these (really) late picks since taking over.

Prior to McDaniels, I can't even remember a 45th or later pick even making our roster.

I'm doing some digging now, and I think Bacon at #40 was the latest pick to ever get used in the Cho era. Before that, I think we have to go all the way back to the pre-Rod Higgins era (I don't even remember who our GM was back then) to Ryan **** Hollins in 2006 to find a 2nd rounder in the second half of the round that made our roster.

Yeah, it's not exactly a goldmine, but it is found money. I was referring to picking Kulboka and McDaniels these past two years.

BTW the Wizards just won that game over the Celtics C-team, and barely.

Raymond Felton
Malik Monk
Adam Morrison
Sean May
Frank Kaminsky

What a great team of lotto picks. We'll have MKG come off the bench.

It's easier to miss on 5-15 range than missing for the 1-5 range though

And Monk is not a desperate case, he has trade value (unlike others obviously, at least the ones who are still playing). If he could be extended for a reasonible contract, he could be a real asset for this team moving forward.

As for Clarke, it's not like its a surprise for me. Some really did not see him play for having focused only on his limitations (wingspan etc etc) to label him as a future failure.
Gonzaga has some real skills in developing bigs as long as prospects have the good attitude (we will see where Tillie and Petrusev land). Next one that should perform (albeit undersized) is the malian Ballo, unless the frontcourt is covered during this draft (Okongwu/tillman or the best good passing big available).

Bravor ... teams miss on the top 3 picks all the time.

2005 Marvin Williams picked ahead of Chris Paul and Deron Williams.
2006 Andrea Bargnani picked ahead of LaMarcus Aldridge and Morrison picked above Brandon Roy and Rudy Gay.
2007 Oden over Durant, All Horford and Mike Conley
2008 Michael Beasley and OJ Mayo over Russell Westrook, Kevin Love, and Danilo Gallinari
2009 Hasheem Thaeet over James Harden, Curry, and more
2010 Evan Turner over all sorts of people
2011 Outside of Kyrie and Kemba all of the other top 10 picks whiffed and you have stuff like Klay and Kawhi going in 11-20
2012 MKG over Beal, Dion Waiters and Thomas Robertson over Lillard
2013 Anthony Bennett first overall....
2014 Wiggins and Jabari Parker over Embiid and Aaron Gordon
2015 Okafor over Porzingis

Getting bored of this, but the point is that historically at least 1 top 3 pick gets screwed up every year. The math is that top 3 picks are more likely to be superstars and less likely to bust, but that obscures the raw number of bad picks each year. Bad teams draft badly.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I trust Mitch and Borrego a lot more than I trusted Cho and Clifford. They have a plan and they put in the work to execute it:

Just need to actually stick with it this time and stay patient. Cho had a plan as well, but I think he accelerated it a year too early

I don't know if anybody expected Big Al to go god-mode for us. If he had stayed at his early-season form that year (due to injury), we still might've wound up with a 6-10 pick, to pair with Detroit's 1st that year.

Also the rebuild kind of needed to accelerate a little- I think that pick we sent for Tyrus Thomas was set to be unprotected in 2015 if we hadn't conveyed it. I don't know if I'd trade that 2014 season for anything though- the last 3 months of that season were the most fun I've ever had watching a Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets, but the best thing we could've done is trade Al Jefferson right after that season and continue to rebuild.

Then again, who knows if we would've still fallen in love with Frank Kaminsky the next year with a top 5 pick or something
