He could always shoot, has good feel for the game and knows how to use his body.

My biggest issues are BBIQ, His body was always a bit out of shape and could he play defense.

If he is in better shape that could relieve a lot of my worries.

Little clarification here, he hasn't even been invited to SL yet, he's just been invited to a 4-day practice session.

LiAngelo is basically just Melo's brother and probably wouldn't have a shot at an NBA roster otherwise

Slight difference

Didn't Liangelo have a full ride at UCLA before the China situation? People are acting like this guy has never played basketball before lol.

He was a 3 Star recruit, who was signed (as a high school sophomore) with hopes of them also landing Melo when he was old enough.

He never played a game due to a shoplifting event in China that got President Trump involved.

He hasn't played any organized basketball since one season in Lithuania in 2018

Let's not pretend like he would've ever received an opportunity if he wasn't related to his brothers.

He always seemed to have a bad attitude, or a guy who isn't hungry enough, or is moping around, in all the videos I've watched from my research on LaMelo

According to Kupchak, he is not on our summer league roster, but will be in our Summer League camp to earn a spot.

Also, not denying that Liangelo is an absolute shot in the dark, I am just choosing to be optimistic about it. It is definitely worth making it happen for Lamelo reasons alone.

With the 3rd pick in the 2020 draft the Charlotte Hornets select LaMelo Ball, Liangelo Ball, Lonzo Ball, and LaVar Ball. This is horrible. If I were GM I could care less if we lost LaMelo if I had to kiss _____ to keep him.

I hope we select Primo or Jared Butler and consider moving LaMelo if we might have to deal with laVar and family....

If you are a small market team you absolutely kiss ass if you need to. Thanasis or whatever his name is, is one of the reasons Giannis stayed with Milwaukee. Lamelo will never be the Greek freak, but if giving his brother a SL invite shows goodwill who cares.

I understand you... and its actually a smart move on your part...

I am just different in that I ALWAYS go against the grain. (kinda can tell even the way I draft) lol. I can't stomach picking players other people pick, but I do not purposely pick other players to avoid who others pick. It's just the fact that I have to stand on my own. Once Bouknight etc.. becomes popular I move on. I want no parts of a clan etc... I rather be broke and look myself in the mirror than to be rich with a bunch of phonies.

This

I don't think he'll be a good player but I think he's interesting enough to where if we didn't have LaMelo I'd still wanna see him in the summer league.

If someone said there was a player who averaged 10 more ppg than two top 3 picks while playing on the same team which was the number one team in nation. Most people would want to give that guy a shot, but since he's LiAngelo Ball he's trash.

Mitch said yesterday that he "fits in" in scrimmages with NBA players

Being Liangelo Ball doesnt make him trash. Being a non NBA talent does.

Is Mitch going to say his star player's brother is doo doo and is only out there because of nepotism?

I can dig bringing him in, because keeping Melo happy is a legitimate consideration, but we gotta stop the mental gymnastics like this guy is a hidden gem.

He's the new (worse) Cory Higgins.

Maybe he pops. Maybe not. It's free press for the team either way

I guess you Hornets fans are used to losing because what Ive seen since LaMelo got drafted is a glass half empty towards Melo and Gelo. Fact is without a top 5 player on a NBA team nobody is winning a championship. Typically those type of players stay in large markets. Thats why any team should take risks. Majority of the people on this board were clowning Melo based on what they heard where his negatives; cant shoot, no defense, bad attitude. When actuality it was obvious that Melo is a star. Now Gelo may not be a star but he definitely could be Klay Thompson 2.0. Gelo is an elite pure shooter and natural scorer with a motor He's humble and a gym rat just like Zo and Melo. My concerns with Gelo are his ankle, individual defense and rebounding. He will make SL. Dont be surprised if he leads the SL in scoring. Playing with Melo its lights out. However in SL will the other PGs feed the beast. In other words his challenge will be to be able to make a good show without Melo. Gelo has NBA talent which is elite shooting.

I guess you drive by fans didn't spend any time on our board over the past year because if you did, you'd know the glass is very full when it comes to LaMelo.

Nope, not heard. There was real concern pre-draft based on his actual output in high school and overseas based on his actual game play.

Sooooooooo obvious. Which is why he went 3rd overall and not 1st?

Klay Thompson 2.0? So..................a star?

Ever checked out the list of who lead the SL in scoring over its history and compared that to their NBA careers?

I don't see why everyone isn't on board with this. We don't stand to lose anything in giving this dude a shot. Plus, it reaffirms in some way our commitment to LaMelo.

Please don't speak of things you don't know about.

In fact, this board has been thrilled with Melo pretty much since the preseason started. No one has talked at all about "Gelo" because he hasn't been on the radar until about a week ago.

Go throw your shade somewhere else.

Old mate sounds like a Ball family fan moreso than a basketball team fan.

Yeah I have no problem with giving Angelo a look, especially if he has looked good in scrimmages. He could be like Seth Curry who needed to bounce around for a bit before finding his feet in the nba

Lamelo was dogged unfairly. Anybody who actually saw him play real games since he was 15 saw superstar but the media did have people thinking he was just a sideshow because of dislike for his father. This board was very skeptical of the pick even after Australia.

Exactly. It’s a similar situation as Giannis and his brother. I do think Gelo is better than Higgins, however my reason is just a hunch.

Seriously, stop coming here if you're just going to try to drag us for our opinions of 18 year old Melo Ball when none of us had watched him play a single game.

He joined the team and has been embraced. If that's not good enough for you, go away.
