While I am ranting, resigning miles Bridges to a massive long-term contract would be a mistake, unless you're only doing it with the 100% intention of trading him within the next 12 to 18 months. He's an empty stat low IQ waste of a player who looks nowhere near as good as he did 2 years ago and that's before we even get into the off Court disaster that he is. I will admit that some of his awfulness is probably related to the clogged toilet offense and I have no doubt he would look better in and more functional offense with ball movement spacing and cutters but not so much that I'm willing to gamble $130 million plus on it

It was the right move because Borrego was mid at best. Problem is we replaced him with someone that is running a system that was revellent 20 years ago and then only really work with the right guys.

When you try to hire a coach, get rejected, and then hire a retread..?

Meanwhile Mami just gave their coach a 120 mil contract. I am betting they spend more in other areas to develop players as well.

each one of the last few games has been rock bottom. We're actually seeing an on-court mutiny right now

id have preferred mike dunlap over this boring crap they're rolling out now.

i agree with Miles as well, he's a talented but dumb player, unfortunately he has almost zero trade value now so i think they're forced to resign him.

The problem is 100% the offense. The defense was trash before but we were still competitive because nobody can stop anybody.

We are playing in an era of unstoppable offense but we can only put up 31 pts at halftime. Defense is bad also but would be better if teams were not running off all these missed shots and trash possessions.

There was a clip from Clifford before the season were he was like we are mostly working on defense at practice. That doesn't work in this offensive era of basketball.

To win you have to get good looks, easy buckets. We make our guys work so hard to get any kind of shot off.

Clifford is actively killing development.

He should have been fired the second last season ended like the Rockets did with his protege Silas, but if the old regime wasn't going to do that, I think it was imperative for the new owners to get a new GM in place as quickly as possible so they could try to potentially get their next head coach in place at some point during this season.

I agree that promoting an interim at this point is useless, but the owners really should have gotten out ahead of this situation to avoid wasting an entire season of development (which looks to be inevitable at this point).

This situation is absurd and its unfair to the players and fans.

First game this year I turned off midway through the 2nd. You could just tell. I’m enjoying a re-run of Ancient Aliens - same predictable outcome but the mysteries are less complex and I’m left with hope that there’s something else out there

Maybe that's happened to Mark's spine. Alien abduction.

He's talked about defense, effort and rebounding after every game this season.

But it's obvious the players don't buy into his stuff. Or he's just clueless.

Probably both.

It'd be embarrassing, but I wouldn't be mad if we brought him back.

He's the profile of what I want. A younger offensive mind.

Its clear now that it wasn't Borregos fault the defense sucked. The roster at the time was so much worse defensively than it is now and JB managed to scrape together a relatively better defensive performance by getting creative and using zones and different strategies. The defense is so much worse now with a supposedly defensive minded coach and defensive upgrades on the roster because the increasing offensive evolution across the league has left Clifford in the dust as a defensive coach.

Clifford's offense was outdated even before the recent offensive evolution and is just a complete joke now. JB and Triano definitely had a good thing going offensively. Triano seems to have been a driving force behind their offense. Rehiring JB might just look too crazy optics wise for a new GM to pull the trigger, but Ive been saying I want them to go after Jordi Fernandez with Triano as lead assistant.

I mean anyone with common sense knows that as soon as the season is over we're getting a new GM and coaching staff.

If thats what happens it will be the culmination of a never ending stream of mistakes and miscalculations by the owner/FO that started immediately after they drafted LaMelo.

Honestly, if we get like 5 1st round picks, I'd do it.

Yes, he is very talented. Probably the most talented in our modern history. But he keeps getting hurt, isn't mature and doesn't play defense.

Basically the 6'7 Trae Young.

I have to wait until he's playing with a better fitting team before I can decide for sure

I like LaMelo and think he could be a major piece on a good team. I just think Charlotte is so far away from making that happen that hes probably going to force their hand on a trade at some point. He just looks so miserable out there and its getting harder and harder to see how they fix this situation anytime soon.

He does have some warts in his game that need to be ironed out, but he needs to be put in a situation to succeed and have the proper guidance. Like Fats was saying, he might need to be more of a ceiling raiser (1b/2a type imo) instead of being tasked with dragging this sorry franchise out of the muck like hes Lebron saving the Cavaliers.

Not now. If they are still this bad 1-2 years from now they might not have a choice. I hope that situation is avoided.

For now I'm just reacting to how miserable he looks on the court because I feel bad for him.

I still reckon we should have signed Becky Hammon as head coach, try and offset the Miles stink by having the first female head coach.

Cody is winning the battle of the Martins at least with a blistering 3 points to 2.

2 blocks for Cody is nice.
