Re: Welcome KJ Simpson
I was an early Cody Williams fan so I watched a lot of Colorado games
KJ Simpson is a major ball hog
basically froze out Cody half the time and was in my eyes a contributor to Cody being marginalized when he returned from injury
don't believe me go back and watch some of Colorado's tournament games
Hornets picked the wrong player from Colorado

Summer league rock star - gonna shoot 25 times per game while Salaun goes 1-4.

New front office seemingly putting a little emphasis on character
I mean, if you spent 3 years in Boulder and you aren't a pothead... well, that's quite the achievement

Per Bleacher Report
Summer League PG?
Swarm PG?
Maybe the new front office actually sees a need.

There is quickness to everything in KJ Simpson's game, whether that's his pace and tight handles or his blink-and-he's-by-you drives and shot release. He can isolate, create out of pick-and-rolls, shine in transition and make simple, quick reads as a passer.
But he's small (6'0", 187 lbs) and not super athletic, so he'll have a defensive target on him as soon as he hits the NBA hardwood.
His physical challenges are real, and they are substantial. Nevertheless, the Hornets could be smart for betting on Simpson's competitiveness, creativity and confidence.

Like this pick.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

If he looks like JT Thor out there, I'm going to die.
Even though it's early, and I had my doubts with Miller after the Summer League debauchery, haven't learned my lesson. It doesn't help that Salaun has been described as raw while Miller was dubbed NBA-ready as a shooter.
I. Will. Die.
If he even slightly resembles Thor.
On the spot.
Ha. I've already braced myself for a low-stat summer for Dijon.
NBA summer league is the polar opposite of Euro ball. It'll be like nothing he's ever seen. A play-the-wrong-way cluster ****. Second pass? Heck, good luck with a first pass. If he puts up numbers it'll be a pleasant surprise - at least this is how I'm pre-justifying it. Will be looking for defensive/hustle stat stuff, ability to grab and go, push the pace, hit open shots when he gets them, etc.
On the other hand, KJ looks/sounds like a player that should be able to take advantage. If he doesn't, dark days ahead for lil' man.
We should've picked up Shariffe Cooper. We can't expect our prospects and higher picks to adjust when they have no floor general.
It was an injustice to their transition and stunted their development.
This guy looks perfect for a Gleague team. You see these little guys torching the Swarm regularly and you're like dang, how come this guy can't play in the NBA?

I think he going to be sneaky good. Hopefully able to replace Micic as the back up PG after next year.

Bet he sees the floor more consistently than Salaun next season.

Re: Welcome KJ Simpson
I'm glad the new regime went back to drafting an upperclassman in the 2nd. All of the recent players we drafted in the 2nd that got 2nd contracts were all upperclassmen. Graham, McDaniels, Richards, and Martin were all either seniors or juniors.
In general it's rare for a freshman or sophomore drafted in the 2nd to stick in the league. The guys that stick are usually older or international players. Draymond Green, Jokic, Brunson, Middleton, and Ginobli all fit this description.

He’s 6’0 with a ball dominant 26.7% usage rate
Is that what this team needs

I think it’s the attitude they wanted. Supports the better culture.

Re: Welcome KJ Simpson
For what it's worth he did say he's ready to do whatever the team needs. Seems he has a good attitude unless he's just faking, so the coaches just need to set expectations and enforce them. If he ices everyone out and chucks it's up to Lee to put him on the bench and/or tell him that's not what is needed from him in the pros.

Re: Welcome KJ Simpson
I think KJ needs to do what he’s committed to doing…work his tail off, bring the dedication and competitive fierceness, listen to his coaches and just go for it. If he can stick, it’s most likely as a deep reserve. If somehow he beats the odds, becomes a poor man’s Sheppard, wonderful.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.
