Re: 2025 Trade Deadline Thread
Bones seems like a worse version of Tre Mann. Spring just got traded I think. No interest in Ingram for me.
I wouldn't mind Portis. I wouldn't give up a ton for him, but he is a nice fit on this roster. He can play PF next to Mark or Diabate and give them a floor stretching option at the 5, which is kind of important if they are trying to play the Celtics system.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline Thread
The Wednesday afternoon before the trade deadline is, for me, always like waiting for an update on a loved one’s surgery. You know there is a time frame, and you may not expect any drama, but there’s always the potential for a shocking outcome.
Part of me says this deadline will be just as mundane as our earlier swap of second round picks. Another part of me wants this team to just bust out the big stick, swat the piñata and make a huge whooper of a deal. Ingram? Why not. Zion? Bring him on.
Then I steady the expectations, knowing there is no team really wanting to make a strong player deal for any player we’ve got other than Melo or Mark, certainly Miller if he wasn’t out from surgery. But it sure would break up the stale deadmill to get a pseudo star here to pair with our core.

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline Thread
I think they should not schedule games the day before the deadline. I would have a real hard time blocking that out if I was a player.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline Thread
I won't pretend to be a capology expert but doesn't trading for a big contract guy like Ingram mean one (or both) of Mark/Miller become likely cap casualties in a couple of years?

he'd push out Bridges before one of them
or Ingram himself
investigate Adam Silver

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline Thread
Mark and then Brandon would be due new deals conceivably during the intersection of Melo and Ingram already on big contracts and I don't see the FO being willing or able to retain all that salary.
To me, Ingram functionally means Miller is gone within a couple of years.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline Thread
Losing faith in this front office pretty fast. Feels like we move Martin for a few 2nds and the deadline is over and we watch the same **** team the rest of the way out.

The cap will be another 40-50 million higher by the time we have to pay Miller. We have the 5th lowest payroll in the league there is zero reason we should be worrying about paying restricted free agents 2.5 years from now. . The lux tax will be even higher probably 60 million more from where it is.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline Thread
Any player we trade for would get injured boarding the plane to Charlotte and be out for 2 months at minimum.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline Thread
If I'm another front office I'd have serious concerns about trading for a guy missing time with a sports hernia. Unless it's not serious at all and we're just playing games with the injury report.

May not be related to a trade, but it could be….
The Chicago Bulls have signed Lonzo Ball to a two-year, $20M extension, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

The PR going on around Twitter is that this is Chicago saying we got our guy locked up, we'll see.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline Thread
I fully expect we won't be making any big moves. Probably shouldn't be. Getting better this year is dumb so it makes sense to just move out some no future types (mimic, maybe Martin, taj) for small returns.

Ingram goes for the pupu platter
The New Orleans Pelicans have traded star forward Brandon Ingram to the Toronto Raptors for Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, one first-round pick and one second-rounder, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania Wednesday.
