lol. I love you.

Consolidating picks to move up is not a bad idea. Like what will OKC actually do with this many picks in the next few seasons? They actually might have a roster size issue to manage with high frp's not getting any mins anytime soon. They might be willing to parlay their picks for future capital down the road.

That is my idea for their pick 15 (conveyed from Heat).

they will want something with more long-term upside. that pick might actually be alright, but Presti seems to like kicking the cans REALLY far down the road because it gives that team more time to blow it up and need to rebuild.

I understand, but hoping their current roster is not ready to absorb a rookie and they want more lead time to trade a draft pick for an NBA player who perfectly fits their roster and can contribute right away. We saw this with Caruso.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #7
Would you guys trade the Miami 1st in 2027 for the 15th pick this year? Then possibly package 34+35 for a future conditional first elsewhere?

No 15th is just no mans land, I would rather use that Miami pick to trade for a contributor. This is how you end up with Kai Jones and James Bouknight in one draft and look back and be mad you traded a future first for a lottery ticket.

this is the way
but do it this summer. dont wait on this pick to get worse in value. bam, herro, wiggins is a solid, playoff proven core. they will retool this summer. no jimmy distractions, still have top tier org. heat should be solidly in playoffs next year barring major injuries,

With all the chatter about Zion, very interesting perspective on the hiring of Dumars relative to Zion’s future. Also details how messed up that organization is (and we think WE’VE got problems):

I'm ALL IN on trading for Zion this summer if we don't land the top pick. I want that PF spot upgraded in a serious way with someone who takes up space in the paint and defenses have to actually worry about.
Of course, if JJJ happens to become available as well - then I want him more because of the defensive upgrade it provides. But JJJ, Zion or Sabonis in that spot would be incredible for this team.

Zion only played 30 games this past season. So I'm a hard no on trading for him.
We don't need another max contract player who misses half the season.

JJJ would be a great fit though. But I don't think Memphis would trade him for whatever we can offer.

Again, only reason a player like this is even available is because he's missed so many games. None of those injuries threaten his long term outlook though, they were all soft tissue type things that just lingered. He's a wide dude, so it takes a lot more for him to maintain but if he can stay healthy then it's a huge win and improvement for this roster. It gives us two top 25 players and possibly another if Miller can develop and return from that wrist issue.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #7
I like Zion but only if they sell 50 cents on the dollar. Pels can’t get me anywhere near healthy market value on a guy who can’t deliver. Hes got his own issues off court, but nothing so far like Miles. Deal them Bridges, Green, filler, a future first & a second or two and I’m in. Do this especially if we get Harper.
If we get #1 and Flagg, need to trade for a SG. But if we project Flagg as a 3, get Zion also and move Miller to the 2.

His contract kind of kills his value. I think they made a mistake paying him that kind of money and could trade him for cheap.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #7
They'd trade Bane or Ja before JJJ. Some on the trade board are suggesting the Grizzlies will run it back next season.
I can't imagine that.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #7
Welp with Dame likely having a torn Achilles likely means Giannis will be available this off-season. That roster is cooked with no Dame.
Trying to find a way to get Giannis to Charlotte without trading LaMelo and Miller. The best I can come up with assumption we get the #2 pick. Otherwise we just draft Flagg.
#2 pick/Bridges/Mark/Grant/3 future 1st for Giannis.
Gives them a young player to start the rebuild in Dylan Harper and a young center in Mark Williams. They also get 3 of our 1st round picks. I threw Bridges and Grant in as salary fillers neither are long term contracts for Milwaukee.
Leaves us with
LaMelo
Miller
Okagie
Giannis
Nurkic

that completely kneecaps our ability to build a team around those 3. If we got pick #2, i can't see us trading that AND 3 1sts AND Mark AND Bridges for one player. Having to include Okogie and Nurk in our starting five due to lack of better options is the exact reason we cannot do this.
