Nik is quickly becoming my favourite.

My concern is how much will we play him? Will he get plenty of opportunity with Hendo, Neal and Taylor being around.

I would hope he gets plenty and if he works out, gets a sniff at starting but I don't think it will happen.
Veterans always seem to be valued higher, he will have to wow them to get a decent opportunity

I think he would get at least what Zeller got this year, around 16-18mpg Cliff loves #spacing

I dunno, we had CDR when we traded for Neal for #spacing, but it wasn't till injury forced us to play him that they seemed to realise that he could be a decent shooting guard.

I truly thought that CDR would have benefited the team starting over Hendo just because of the spacing issues, but it was never going to happen.

We'd be best off using Stauskas/CDR/Neal at SG and MKG/Hendo/Taylor at SF. Henderson is a better fit as a SF just as CDR is best at SG. I'd let Neal and Taylor ride the bench and rotate the other 4.

I only watched Stauskas twice this past year, but from what you guys have said he kinda sounds like a SG version of Chandler Parsons. Is that a fair comparison?

2.6 AST/TO ratio in his sophomore season

He's more like the PG version of Klay Thompson.

That's a very fair and accurate comparison

So, who would be Charlotte's point guard if they drafted Nik Stauskas, him or Kemba? The other question is how productive do you think Stauskas could be off the ball --- not how efficient, but how productive --- with around a consistent 30 minutes per game?

Stauskas is Steph Curry trapped in a SG body so Kemba should play PG and Stauskas should play off the ball. Imagine Curry with a ball handling shooting guard or in this case, imagine Stauskas with a ball handling PG.

Kemba, but Nik can do it some also, kinda like Dragic and Bledsoe in Phoenix, and Nik playing off ball with 30mins i would guess 12-14pts, Al and Kemba should make quite a few open threes for him

With out team he could put up big numbers. He would get shots out of double teams on Al and space the floor for MKG and Kemba to drive more. Kemba would be PG and Nik could be a secondary ball handler.

If he starts and plays 30 minutes I see no reason he wouldn't put up 14/3/4 right away. These were around what Klay put up as a rookie with better passing. If he takes all of Henderson's shots with a couple more threes than twos he would get somewhere are 15 ppg on his percentages. I doubt he gets them all his rookie season but I think he will end up with more in the long run because of how well he shoots.

If we don't get this guy I'm gonna be very disappointed. Such a great shooter.

I'm already very disappointed we aren't getting rumors linking us to this guy, never mind actually getting the guy. But at least we didn't hear a peep about Cody Zeller up until the last minute. And they did work out Zeller towards the end of everything.

"With my ballhandling and my play in pick-and-rolls and things like that, I can immediately be a guy who can stretch the floor and make shots," Stauskas said. "That's something I've always been able to do, but I think teams are really going to be surprised when they put the ball in my hands and put me ball screens. They're going to be surprised by the plays I can make for myself and others."

McDermott, for one, was impressed by Stauskas over the past few weeks. He said Stauskas is "as good as I've seen off the dribble" on Thursday.

Because of that, teams are intrigued by Stauskas sliding to point guard in the league. He led Michigan in assists with 118 last season while scoring 17.5 per game by making 93 2-point field goals, 92 3-pointers and 168 free throws.

"If can get my handle to that next level, that's going to allow me to play a little bit of point guard and that's going to allow me to play more minutes," Stauskas said.

That comment was about Appling but they were talking about him being a mismatch for both guards. Since Appling and Harris are the same length it could be applied both ways.

This guy has to be the pick. He has tremendous upside and can help right away. He may be the only guy in our range who could step in day one and make us a better team while still holding the potential to be a great player in this league.

I'd give him 7 minutes at back up PG and 18 minutes at SG with Kemba.

25 minutes.

I hope Clifford is reading these quotes from Stauskas.
