The more he bulk up the more he'll lose the only thing he has going for him, which is 'agility for his height'

Wouldn't he be able to play more like he did in college? he obviously won't be a very good stretch 4. but maybe he could become a good back to the basket 5 if he learns from big al

If you go back and watch him at Indiana University, he played the same way there as he played for Charlotte as a rookie, where he just used his athleticism to try to get around slower bigs from the mid-to-high post. He was a lot more successful at it in college. Unfortunately for him, in the NBA he has been in for a rude awakening because there's not as many stiffs as he faced in the B1G and there's more length. That's what he's had to struggle with as a rookie. The only way I see Zeller becoming more than a energy/hustle big that just grab offensive rebounds and slash to the rim for dunks occasionally is if he develop a consistent mid-to-long range jump shot. It's probably his only hope, because his wingspan isn't going to defy his height. He's pretty much the length of the typical NBA SF despite being 7'0" tall

Zeller will be better than an energy/hustle big, he has legit skills he just has to learn how to use them in the NBA and get stronger which i think he will

Stoked to see our future front court work together in SL

My feeling has been that Cody's best future role is at the 5. I know he has short arms, but that will always be an issue when playing or defending inside. As he gets stronger he has to be able to hold position better to gain positional advantage. I doubt he ever becomes a prolific shooter, and certainly not the stretch 4 that Noah can provide. But, I think he can be effective as the type of "modified" center that is typical in today's NBA. Don't know if that is as a starter or reserve.

I also do not want us to cut Noah's court time and stunt his development. I know the staff loves McBob, and he is valuable, but if he is back as the starter, that leaves Noah and Cody to fight over too few minutes. You cannot invest a 4th and 9th pick without developing them. MKG got plenty of opportunity.

So...sign McBob for a reasonable contract and I'm cool. Pay too much and crowd our 4, and we're making a mistake.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Our future FC is Vonleh/Biyombo with Cody backing up both spots imo.

Awesome future rotation.

Possibly. For all we know we may resign Jefferson to another contract. Hes only 28. Still plenty of miles on them legs

With Hairston, Vonleh, and Zeller they should. They'll probably stop playing those 3 after the third game though.

Jefferson was born on January 4th, 1985 so he's 6 months and a week away from turning 30.

His game will age well, provided his arthritis ages well.

Aside from you LP, I don't think there is anyone as high on Zeller than me, he's going to be a great pro imo.

He will be an elite bench big in this league and fits in tandem with either Vonleh or Biz.

Vonleh+Biz is a potentially elite FC.

I know you aren't that high on Biyombo but his upside is still ridiculous.

I still like Biyombo, hes just frustrating at times. Id be curious to know how much hes been working out with the coaches this off season. Zeller and MKG have been there daily.

Any project worth their salt is going to be frustrating, but the talent is undeniable.

Biyombo is known as the hardest worker on our team, when guys like Kemba and MKG need to kick you out of the gym, if you fail, it won't be from lack of effort!

Will be interesting what kind of contract Biyombo gets after this year. Cheaper the better.

We'll give him something like 4/16-20m imo.

If we don't we're stupid, he's worth it quite easily.

I didn't find this package complimentary to Noah at all.

In fact, it kind of soured me on him a little.
