MIami has traded guard Brian Roberts and a second-round pick to Portland, league source tells @TheVertical

Not quite as cool as MIA, but at least he has his buds Vonleh and Hendo there.

As I'm leaving the arena garage, The Vertical reports Brian Roberts traded to Portland. So he came down, practiced, met w media & is gone

Looking at Portland's roster, his competition for backup point guard is a second-year guy named Tim Frazier. His PER is 4.91. Roberts' PER is 14.21. Frazier averages 1.5 points in eight minutes per game, shooting 33%. Roberts shoots 44%. Portland may have another ball handler on the squad besides Lillard, but this may turn out to be a good situation for Roberts.

Frazier was cut today so they could take on Varejao.

While his on-court play may not have lived up to everyone's expectations, he's always been a professional and came ready to play whenever his number was called. Not a locker room cancer or another Lance. I wish him the best.

His play was important during the months of January and February, when so many guys were hurt. He shot 50% or higher in nine of those games out of sixteen, not including the last one against the Pacers. I hope we can find someone just as competent.

I think he's done better this year than last year in some ways. His shooting has gone up (from 39% to 44% from the field), and we needed those points with the injuries.

From what I can tell, his on court play exceeded everyone's expectations.

He was better than last year. But I think with guys like Lamb and Troy and others available, the team needed some more orchestrating, while he tended to shoot more. But his FG% was up from last year, so his tendency to shoot first rather than pass first wasn't as detrimental.

" Brian Roberts made his debut late in the fourth quarter. He arrived in Portland around noon on Friday after taking an early flight from Miami. A few hours later, he finished with seven points as part of Blazers' best victory of the year."

Damian Lillard had 51 points as the Trailblazers beat the Warriors, 137-105.

Adorable Brian Roberts story...

Today is the annual Hooptee Celeb Golf Tournament in Ballantyne here in Charlotte, hosted by the Hornets Fred Whitfield. Many NBA players, current and former are participating - Charles Oakley, Ron Harper, Matt Carroll, Gerald Henderson Sr, JR Reid, Scott Williams, Greg Anthony and our very own Brian Roberts.

I have a friend who works the tournament every year. They have separate registration tables for the celebs and the other rich people paying to play with the celebs. Roberts walked up to the non-celeb table to register and they didn't know who he was so they asked him "Are you famous?". He replied "No". They said, "do you play pro sports for a living?". He said, "Yeah, I play for the Hornets". They laughed, "Man, you famous, you register over there" LOL.

I have a long running policy to dislike Brian Roberts that you're violating.

That's a great story. Roberts is totally solid as a 3rd PG bench guy. It speaks a lot that we've brought him back in.
