Re: Kai-Light Reel: The Kai Jones Thread
Kai wearing #23 has nothing to do with Jordan.
He wanted to wear #22 but Vern already had it, so he opted for the next number.
He said so during a presser.

I have irrational exuberance thinking about Lamelo leading the break flanked by stretchy gazelles like Kai, Thor and McD

? This team will have some short coming, but we have plenty of guys that can score.
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

i think he's referring to Kai, Thor and McD being on the court at the same time, which I can't imagine happening in a hurry outside of garbage time

wasn't advocating playing them together at this point just tired of wondering why Hornets couldn't add modern length and depth
et voila the team is starting to collect long tall athletes

Tremendous upside. Needs to spend entire season with the Swarm and lift weights every off day.

He’ll end up being a 20-10 player.

He looks really comfy in that vid dribbling coast to coast and dunking. Really hoping Kai develops. Would be huge for us.

Its not about the offense.....
His minutes will come when he figures out the defensive side of the ball, and I'm not talking about weak side blocks.

I haven't given up hope on Kai, not by a long shot. He needs seasoning but I like his fluidity and his tools a lot more than your average 'three years away from being three years away'-type prospect. He has a legitimately rare combination of size, athleticism and a frame that can add muscle. Well worth the risk imo.

Re: Kai-Light Reel: The Kai Jones Thread
i understand why he was worth a gamble. if he figures out how to play, he could be a monster. just gotta be patient.

Ya, Kai isn’t about to positionally out rebound anyone anytime soon.
He was easily boxed out last night time and time again and while the rebounds that he did get last night were great, they were a direct result of his length and athletic ability - not from fighting for and/or establishing position.
He also needs to learn how to block shots and direct them toward team mates and not not just spike them.

Re: Kai-Light Reel: The Kai Jones Thread
Was awesome to see Kai finally get any sort of meaningful burn. He played well for those 6 4th Q minutes, and hopefully next time around he'll be ahead of Vern in the depth chart.
He was also just assigned to Greensboro, as they have a game tonight...I'm wondering how worth it that is though...we're likely going to need him so why risk him getting injured/contracting COVID right before we head out west?

He needs all the reps he can get. To say he is raw is an understatement.
