The Gilchrist Pick Will Lead to pairing with Wiggins/Shabazz

Post#221 » by DerrickRose23 » Tue Jul 3, 2012 4:34 am

The Gilchrist is the perfect pick for long term.
They get a player who will - although he will produce well- will not be able to impose his will until he gets another elite player.

Gilchrist on a team with Elite talent= PLAYOFF contention- Gilchrist is the perfect Robin.

Gilchrist on bobcats without a Batman- another opportunity to get A top 3 pick.

If the bobcats are smart. They Draft Cody Zeller next year and then Wiggins or Parker the following year an then make a run..

MKG should use #3 ... it'll be just like old times. Just ignore the 1 on Kemba's jersey and we got the old squad back.

Am I the only one who wants Gerald Wallace's #3 jersey retired?

He is tall enough now that he must duck under the door frame to enter his bedroom and mature enough to seek the pressure of playing for the most prominent college basketball program in the country.

“He’s a warrior,” said Tom Konchalski, the editor and publisher of the national recruiting newsletter HSBI Report. “I don’t think anyone has the motor he has, or competes as consistently as he does. He’s certainly one of the better forwards from the East Coast in the last decade.”

Many scouts rave about Gilchrist’s abilty to play at the fastest speed on every possession, with equal effort on offense and defense. Those who knew the elder Michael Gilchrist say he played basketball the same way.

good read there. there was a follow up column to this one by the same author (i believe) and posted a day or two before the draft. it is just as good and informative as this one.

additionally, this video was probably linked in the lead up to the draft, but it bears repeating - http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/video/ ... index.html

Has both the rookies sign their deals yet or is the time to sign rookies suppose to start when free agency signings suppose to start?

Gilchrist will start. I would say it's pretty obvious. Both players are rookies and thus have the same amount of experience playing in the NBA. Taylor may have more talent offensively right now, but MKG has a better all around game and will bring the intangibles and toughness to this team. That's what coaches love, so it's no question MKG will be the starter.

That article is pretty funny. The writer starts out making a claim that Taylor should start ahead of MKG. Then midway through he confesses it's obvious MKG will start being the 2nd overall pick. So, it's not exactly a battle is it? Ah, what else would you expect from bleacher report...

The point the writer tried to make is somewhat if a valid one, but he did a rather poor job getting it across.

Gilchrist will start unless we sign Jamison and start him at the SF spot.

I think there is validity to starting both, Taylor at the 2 and MKG at the 3. Taylor's jumpshot is better than Hendo's. He doesn't have the dribble that Hendo has, but Jeff can open the floor for MKG and Kemba to go to the basket. I wouldn't be surprised to see that look at least a couple of times this year.
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

Taylor is no where near Henderson at this point.

I just disagree... I think Taylor is good and has a much better outside jumper than Hendo. Taylor is a better on the ball defender than Hendo, and is bigger. I think we're lucky to have him, and while he won't start right off the bat, I think there is validity to trying that lineup some of the time during the year.

I was just about to post the same thing.

Maybe Taylor compliments MKG much more as our SG than Hendo does?

we definitely do not lack options at the 2 and 3 this year.

sg: hendo | gordon | r williams | carroll
sf: mkg | brown | taylor

hendo, williams, carroll, mkg and taylor can all probably get minutes at 2 or 3 depending on game and matchups.

gordon can slide to the 1 and brown and maybe mkg can slide to the 4 if needed as well.

it depends on if we start Kemba or someone else (DJ?). Otherwise you need Taylor's shooting on the bench. Mullens shoots well too.
