I liked Cody's improvement towards the end of the year but I'm not putting much stock into him being anything more than a taller Psycho T junkyard dog type player until he has a consistent jumper.

I witnessed enough of a rise in confidence in Cody from the first half to the second to highly doubt this statement.

When did you witness Cody holding his position, ever? His improvement was solely due to out hustling scrubs and quick dunking. When he tried to score in traffic he just threw up some meek lay up or just played for contact instead of actually trying to take it to the rim strong.

I look forward to seeing people repeating themselves in not only this thread, but just about every thread on this board throughout the entire off season.

Rex made the All Rookie 2nd team?

Not bad considering how much he sucked for the first half of the season.

With the strength of the draft class, it would have been pretty amazing for him to miss out on it.
Looking at blackouts post, it's ridiculous how much of a crapshoot that draft was.

In a redraft the only two players I would take at our pick are MCW and Giannis.

Both would be gone in a true redraft at #4, leaving us with Zeller over the likes of Steven Adams, McLemore, Plumlee.

Yes, I think Zeller will be more valuable than Plumlee in the future.

So Cho makes an ultimate Cho pick with the 4th pick in the 2013 draft that was hugely unpopular and deemed a reach, and it turns out that his pick was the 4th most productive player in the top 10? Hmmmm....

Think he was the 3rd most productive, but the pick isn't as bad as everyone thinks. Was just a horrific draft.

I think we are all a bit too negative on Zeller, trying to trade him away at every opportunity. I think you have to look at his longterm value over his short term value. Meaning there are some bigs who are more finished products and are gonna be career defensive bigs and rebounders who may look good now, but in 2 years they are still what they are now. Guys like Dieng, Adams and Plumlee looked good this year because they are good at what they do rebound and anchor a defense however I do not see any of them being a 14 point scorer at any point in their careers.

Zeller on the other hand has demonstrated skills that these guys wish they could do in a pickup game, let alone an NBA game. Midrange jumpers, Straight line drives to the basket, and overall knack for putting the ball in the hoop.

Sure Zeller did not come out of the gate an offensive stud, delegating McBob to a reserve role like many of us thought may happen, but that does not mean its not in the due to happen in the near future. Zeller to me has the ability to draw his defender away from the basket on offense and still be an above average defender on Defense something that few PFs in this league can do. Also, I think he will have the versatility to play both frontcourt positions down the road once he gets stronger.

I think Zeller could become a very solid PF who is capable of averaging 14 and 8 as starter, I think he needs to come off the bench for one more year and then he will be ready to start. At the very least I think he has a Nick Collison type career, who also was drafted high. A high IQ big, who can contribute to a championship contender, while playing both frontcourt positions.

I actually like Adams better but he certainly doesn't fit here with Jefferson and Biz.

Post All-Star game Cody posted 15 points per 36 minutes and 9 rebounds.

Ummm.

I think they're going to take another peek at him.

Unfortunately I think you are right. Personally they should try to see if that abnormal stretch is enough for him to hold trade value to help us in this draft.

I know, it would be beyond horrific were he to keep on that pace.

Problem is a hustle big like that is very unlikely to put up those numbers over 36 minutes because he will wear down. He can't play full speed 36 minutes a night 82 games a year and hustle is all the guy has for offense right now. Trick a team into believing he can and get something out of the guy.

Zeller shouldn't go anywhere unless its in a big time deal. He was more than solid after the allstar break

Zeller will be fine imo.

Added weight will help him exponentially.

It never hurts to have athletic 7 footers who hustle like crazy coming off the bench.

Putting in that work. :)
