Mo has been worth his weight in gold. Sometimes the less-heralded moves end up being the best ones. Cho bet essentially nothing (we don't even keep 2nd round picks most years) and gained a valuable contributor, it was smart management through and through. Dude has always killed it in trades, have we even lost one since he arrived?

Back on-topic, these next three games are huge. I would love to go 2-1, preferably with the loss being to Toronto, that would likely have us sitting in 7th possibly even a couple games ahead of 9th. But really, my hope was for us to at least stay within striking distance of the 8th seed until Kemba got back and we could roll out a full lineup. If we can survive this week and his checkup goes well we should easily be in the race when he returns. That's a win in my book. I think with a healthy roster we have as good a shot as anyone (except Indy with a healthy Paul George, if that actually happens relatively soon) at taking a firm grip on a playoff spot.

Random piece on our playoff chances.

In April, the Hornets take on Indiana, the Miami Heat, the No. 1 Atlanta Hawks, and the No. 2 Toronto Raptors, all on the road. Charlotte will also host Atlanta, Toronto and the No. 3 Houston Rockets before the wrapping up the regular season.

Can the Hornets manage wins against quality opponents?

This is a good point, our April schedule sucks.

4/1 - DET
4/3 - @ IND
4/4 - PHI
4/7 - @ MIA
4/8 - TOR
4/10 - @ ATL
4/12 - @ DET
4/13 - HOU
4/15 - @ TOR

9 games in 15 days, only one of which is against a team that is not either a playoff team or likely fighting for playoff position. It would be great if DET falls apart over the course of this month and doesn't put up a fight in April. We could also catch Atlanta and Houston resting if their playoff spots are locked when we play them.

Only ones im legit worried about are Toronto and Atlanta to be honest, especially with a healthy Walker by then.

yeah i don't think it's that bad my only concern is jamming 9 games into 15 days.

With Milwaukee and Washington falling apart it's not too crazy to think we could end up with the 5 seed. There's a little over 20 games left and if we could finish on a strong note like 17-6 or at least 15-8 over the next 23 that would be a good look. That Knight-MCW trade lol.

With Toronto struggling that schedule doesn't seem as bad as it might at first glance. If we are healthy, I could definitely see us winning at least half of those games.

Toronto doesn't worry me at all. They are only ranked highly at the moment thanks to their hot start due to a marshmallow like schedule. They are coming down to Earth with a thud right now - and have been for sometime. I'm surprised you are not worried by Houston?

I could see us winning 6 of these 10 games.

4/1 - DET = WIN
4/3 - @ IND = WIN
4/4 - PHI = WIN

4/8 - TOR = WIN
4/10 - @ ATL = PUSH
4/12 - @ DET = PUSH
4/13 - HOU = PUSH
4/15 - @ TOR = WIN

Fans of other teams around the league don't have any respect for our team. The only way that changes is if we finally win a playoff series.

Not sure I can believe the 5th/6th seed is a realistic proposition. I think Milwaulkee and Washington will figure it out eventually. They're definitely flawed but I don't think we can reasonably expect them both to go .250 over the remainder of the year, which is probably what it would take to vault the Hornets into a higher seed.

I agree that we should be fine in the last month. If we can't beat those teams we don't deserve to make the playoffs anyway, but I think we can and we'll get our fair share. I'm glad the tanking talk has disappeared though, I'm really excited to see a full roster with one of Kemba/Mo on the floor at all times. We're definitely underrated, mainly because no one pays attention to defense. If we were the top-rated offense after the All-Star break everyone would be all over us, but we're the top-rated defense so it's not a sexy story. I'm fine with flying under the radar and proving our worth in the playoffs. We've still got a steep hill to climb and it's good no one in the media is blowing smoke up our ass to make the young guys think we've already accomplished something.

haha, this reminds that someone created a thread before the season proclaiming us as contenders and a team that might come out of the East. I used that exact quote as my reaction.

You may be right, but they've lost six of their last seven and none have been particularly close. Knight played a huge role on their team and there is nothing to suggest that MCW is suddenly going to be able to score efficiently. MIL also has a pretty tough remaining schedule, with games against NOP (2x), MEM, SAS, CLE (2x), GSW, ATL, and then a bunch of teams fighting for playoffs in the East (MIA, IND 2x, BRK 2x, BOS 2x).

WAS is just in a slump, but MIL is in serious trouble IMO.

I hope you're right about Milwaulkee, I'm rooting for us to jump them but I guess I'm still slow to start dreaming that big after we fell so far behind just before the All-Star break. Prior to that I really thought we had a good shot. Their schedule is brutal, so I guess anything is possible. I knew the MCW trade was a downgrade, but I felt like Kidd could hold them together and that big lead in the standings would insulate them at least a little from the worst-case scenario. If they really do go .250 down the stretch I'll be absolutely ecstatic for our chances.

I'm more surprised by Washington. I know Beal was out awhile, and they sort of overachieved with an easy early schedule, but losing ten in a row is hard to do with that much talent.

@Lamar: Yeah, I felt like I had seen it somewhere on these boards before but couldn't put my finger on it. A great quote for all occasions, haha.

Chicago is the most annoying damn team. I swear to god, any time I want them to lose, they win. Anytime I want them to win, they lose. Stupid %#!#%#! of a team.

Same thoughts from me. I was rooting for OKC last night and they have a Great comeback and tonight they seemed done from the start.

The first "x" has made its appearance in the standings! ATL must have just clinched a playoff spot.
