@ESPNSteinLine
The @nbadleague draft takes place Sunday. Some of the notable draft-eligible names include Shannon Brown, Anthony Brown and Rashad McCants.
So I have an idea of who we'll pick...

@ChrisReichert
The NAZ Suns have traded Xavier Munford to the Greensboro Swarm for a future 1st rd pick, per @IAmDPick #NBADL. Opens the door for Askia Booker for NAZ and gives Swarm a floor general for expansion season.
Surprised it wasn't for cash.

I like this. Munford is supposed to be a really good shooter and did get on an NBA team last year. He's one of the ~7000 players in the world I would've taken over Aaron Harrison for that final roster spot.
investigate Adam Silver

I'll take that slot. I too can provide little to no value during an NBA game, except for much less

Re: RE: Re: Greensboro Swarm - The D-League Thread
Something of a run down of all the players' rights acquired this off-season.
Draft Picks:
1. Shonn Miller, Connecticut
2. Ky Howard, New Jersey Institute of Technology
3. Mike Anderson, Washington
4. Ron Mvouika, France
5. Keala King, Long Beach State
(Sixth pick passed on)
Acquired via Trade:
Xavier Munford, Rhode Island
(traded 2017 first round pick for rights)
Affiliate Players:
Andrew Andrews, Washington
Perry Ellis, Kansas
Rasheed Sulaimon, Maryland
Mike Tobey, Virginia
Expansion Selections:

Total of 22 players, though the training camp roster maximum is 17. I imagine they forfeited the sixth round pick because the fifth rounder got them to 17. Safe bet all five draft picks and Munford will be on the training camp roster, we've also seen confirmation that Ellis, Sulaimon, Tobey, and Wilkins will join the team. On the other hand, we've heard Andrews will be signing overseas and Huestis has made the Thunder.
Eventuality the roster will be trimmed to 10, with spots 11 and 12 reserved for NBA assignments.

Re: Greensboro Swarm - The D-League Thread
Shonn Miller more Big Red than Huskie . . .
Came to Connecticut as a graduate student with one season of eligibility remaining, following four years and three basketball seasons at Cornell University. Sat out his junior season (2013-14) following off-season shoulder surgery before returning as a senior... Voted First Team All-Ivy League as both a sophomore and a senior, the latter time unanimously. Voted the Ivy League Rookie of the Year as a freshman... Twice named Ivy League Player of the Week... Finalist for CollegeInsider.com National Defensive Player of the Year... At Cornell, played 85 college games, starting 78, and has scored 1,065 points, grabbed 608 rebounds, and recorded 126 steals. Tied a Cornell record with 18 career double-doubles.

Re: Greensboro Swarm - The D-League Thread
5/5 draft picks
3/4 affiliate players (Andrews)
3/12 expansion picks
+4 tryout players (including Jamie Skeen, who we had in Summer League a few years back)
That's 15/17 spots filled, with the last two presumably going to the notably absent Xavier Munford (who we just traded a first round pick for) and Andrews.

I don't know, I'm in favor of going after guys at unknown of programs. Everyone has seen guys from Kansas plenty but there is benefit on taking on little known guys that have potentially gone under the radar. Most likely won't pan out but I'd love to see a study that compares D-League to NBA jumps from different levels of collegiate or overseas basketball.
I'd be willing to bet that while many players from top programs are signed by D-league teams due to notoriety a fewer number percentage wise end up making a NBA bench.
