Good problem to have. Seriously. He would be an S&T asset if you didn't like the price.

well he only pointed out three complete negatives about the trade a couple of which I flatly disagree with and left out some of the elements of the trade which are favorable.

Batum had a bad year last year I understand that. But some of you guys are ready to be negative no matter what the team does. A year from now i'm sure a lot of people here would be bashing Vonleh and calling him a bust if he would have stayed.

He is not a top tier two way player.
He is 26 and likely what he is at this point.
It was a trade for a one year guy sacrificing future for short term mediocre gains.

What is there to disagree with? He isn't a star or anything and will not turn the team around. It was a bad move because we gave up a guy with big potential for an average wing coming off any injury riddled down year.

i happen to like what batum is at this point and think he'll be a pretty good fit for us. The difference between me and you is I see how reasonable minds could disagree on this trade.

I don't think you can say we sacrificed our future by giving away Vonleh. He's an upgrade in every way over Hendo, and vonleh is a complete gamble at this point. If Vonleh busts, this is a good trade. If he becomes a starter, its a meh trade. If he becomes a STAR, it's a regrettable trade. Its a risk I'm willing to take, and right now its a pretty good trade.

Right now our team is looking better and we still have a future in young players (MKG, Hairston, Zeller, lamb, even kemba) plus this 9th pick. We're ok

I see how they can disagree but I do not see how anything he said was not true. You can believe there are other good things but these are all true statements. So calling him biased seems a little unreasonable to me.

I'm disgusted. How we could let go of Vonleh without ever giving him a chance is mind boggling.

We lost this deal because we bought high on a low player. Coming off this year he was not worth this.

you're right he's obviously not biased. Still I disagree with him and I think we desperately needed a versatile wing player and I don't think it necessarily puts us on the treadmill. An old 26 I don't even know what that means and completely disagree with the entire notion. So what he's like 27 now in basketball years?

I also don't think its a lazy way of building a team. I don't know when we all decided that the "correct" way of building a team is to tank year after year for top draft picks, and that somehow making the playoffs is bad. If that's the case then I wouldn't even watch the NBA because only like 3 teams are relevant if all that matters is winning the title or first pick.

My biggest problem with this trade is we gave up the only young player we had who had the potential to be more than average at both ends of the court. He was the only guy who could have really turned into something special. If we are going to be picking in the range we are in you have to take gambles like trying to develop him.

I think I like this trade.

Mainly because we did something. I was sick of sitting around hoping one of our picks became something.
It's a bold move, but sometimes you just have to take them.

Batum was a very good wing during Portland's big runs, he is quality.

Now unfortunately for Vonleh, I will now be praying that he becomes the next Sean May or Greg Oden.
Sorry buddy, but I wish you anything but success. yes, I can be that type of guy

Henderson and Vonleh isn't exactly a king's ransom.

I am not sure I would be thrilled with Hendo and Zeller but we went above and beyond and traded the better prospect.
