We really need to phone up the Mavs. Cuban doesn't have any options and he hates to lose. Al makes them better.

The basic idea is okay, I can imagine Cuban move for something like this, but 1. DAL haven't got anything particulary interesting for us. Maybe picks, but no other assets. 2. with all the moves in this offseason we aren't tanking, that's clear, so right now I cannot believe we would ship out Al for picks and scrubs. Later, if we are **** in december of course, but until...

I wouldn't shed a single tear for any of them, but only Al has positive value (I really don't know how much). And with his contract we cannot attach any of them to him.

Roberts, PJ won't be in the league next year IMO, Daniels like won't be, Marvin will be a vet. minimum guy.

I don't mind Daniels as the end of bench chucker. Good 3rd string.

I'm guessing they want to tank now, though with all the nutty signings so far this year the trade market could look equally crazy.

I don't think the Hornets will trade Al, his signing was a pretty important first step in terms of getting a guy to come over, so they probably would like to have him play out his contract, his minutes already declined a lot this year and I suspect it would go down more next season.

The League is trending faster, but really good teams can play both fast and slow. having Al is a serious matchup issue for teams that try to play small a lot of the time, the problem last year versus the year before was that everyone's 3 point shot cratered and the spacing became horrendous. towards the later half of the season Clifford pretty much always kept at least one other forward in the paint when Al had the ball and gave up on spacing completely.

With Lin / Kaminsky and Hawes, and hopefully further improvements from MKG and Zeller, this should be better next year hopefully, though yeah I do hope they could try more small lineups with say something along the lines of Kaminsky / Zeller / MKG / Lin / Kemba or hell even more extreme version like Zeller / MKG / Batum / Lin / Kemba.

I do like the development I saw in Cody Zeller and MKG though, it's a miracle but they really did fix his shot . if he could start hitting some corner 3s he's be a huge weapon.

Great points…

Al took his option but Cliff controls the minutes. Just the way the league is trending, logic follows Al's minutes will take a hit, nothing personal. Al must know this up front.

Thanks and great to meet you! I was pulling for Steph throughout the Finals. His father does Hornets games and I love his commentary. I saw Steph play at Davidson College right outside Charlotte. I'm very happy for their whole family.

Really happy to have Jeremy Lin - really fits the culture and believe he's a perfect fit. I'm excited for the season!

For all the hate Al gets here, the coaching staff and front office seem glued to him. The odds of Al not starting are pretty small and the odds of him being traded early in the year are pretty much non-existent.

But everyone else on that list is more or less expendable.

Roberts is nice as a 3rd guard, but given Lin there is no reason that he couldn't be replaced by a younger guy.

Daniels is just fine as a 3rd SG. I wouldn't mind trading him or even cutting him, but see little reason to do so.

PJ has potential, but I think that it's pretty clear at this point that he's very unlikely to reach it. He does havae some value as a backup SF, but Batum can play that position too so trading him isn't out of the question IMHO. Of all of the guys mentioned he seems the most likely to be gone at some point this year. PJ just seems to have a knack for creating distractions whether it's his car or pushing the brother of a teammate in frustration. I just don't see Cliff putting up with it this year.

Marvin is an interesting case too. It's clear that Cliff likes him as a veteran option. Marvin even matches up well against other teams that are trying to go small, so he has situational utility. His salary is what makes him trade bait IMHO. Combined with his utility and role on this team it's easy to see Cho including Marvin in a deal to make $$ match.

On topic, Lin's arrival is the most likely to affect Roberts & PJ IMHO, with Marvin possibly getting affected if there is some sort of trade as a result.

And speaking of Lin, I'm really happy that the team signed him. Not only is he a good fit, but he's a fun guy to root for. We've talked about the loss of guys like Biz who are easy to pull for ... well Lin makes up for that in a bit way for me. It's not that he's replacing Biz's skillset, the team still could use a rim defender, it's more that his personality and accessibility are somewhat similar to Biz for me.

I'm really looking forward to new folks joining the board and the team's increased visibility as a result.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I was holding off as there were reports of MLE, but if this is really two years at 4.3 mil total, wow, just wow. Would love it if that is two years fixed, but my guess is that Lin negotiated a second year player option so that he can opt into the FA money grab then. Still not 100% clear if it's 4.3 per, or? Blackout?

The Bi-Annual is only worth $2,139,000, add on a second year at the max 4.5% raise and it comes out to $4,374,255 in total.

Year 1: $2,139,000
Year 2: $2,235,255

What's interesting to me is that we didn't opt to use part of the MLE instead. The MLE can be used every year, but the Bi-Annual can only be used once every two years (so we won't have it next year). Makes me think there's still a plan for the MLE.

Good signing. Team looks poised to be improved next season if they can stay relatively healthy.

I'm still lost on why he took so little money. Extremely happy, but confused.

hi Lin Nation fan checking in. (just kiddin)

Steal. I'd want him with the Bulls for our backup PG problem and thought our MMLE has no chance. mind blowing he agreed for the cheep. congrats.

I'm pretty sure Lin has huge endorsement deals in Asia.

Money doesn't seem to be his main concern.

For that price Lin is a great addition. I wonder what they have in mind for the MLE.
