It seems I'm the only one who didn't take a franchise player with my 1st pick, lol. The more chance to get my ass kicked, i guess.

With the 12th and final pick of the first round I select the 8th wonder of the world, 1959/1960 Wilt Chamberlain (rookie).

1959/1960 - 46.4 mpg / 37.6 ppg / 27.0 rpg / 2.3 apg / 46.1% fg / 58.1% ft

Rookie Wilts overall game wasn't as refined as in his later years, but his physical tools were unrivaled even to this day and I don't plan on using him as my primary scoring option anyways. We are talking about a dude who stood 7'1" without shoes and ran a sub 11 second 100 yard dash, 49 second 440, broad jumped 22 feet, and high jumped 6'6" with the head old school style.

I highly recommend anyone that has never seen footage of young Wilt or is just curious about him in general to watch the first 20 minutes of this video and have your mind completely blown.

I feel sorry for you, but don't worry i'll be waiting for you to re-select your pick. Take your time and don't get too pumped, that's not good for your health, lol.

Thats lame. I quit. I'll just go back to spectating and root for Flip Murrays squad.

Why the 1976 cutoff?

I was so excited when I thought Wilt "fell" to me. My whole strategy was based around that pick. My team was gonna be so dope.

I'm at least glad I got someone to watch the beginning of that video.

I used 1976 since it was the year the ABA merged with the NBA and the NBA as we know it was formed. Its also about the time that most of the stats are available on bball-ref and close to the year the 3pt line as added. We've done drafts limited to just the current year, some back to the beginning and the last two starting with the merger.

Don't quit, plenty of franchise players left to build around and you get two of them, back to back...

Kareem is available with the All NBA category and I considered taking him at 3. I believe Kareem to be the most underrated superstar of all time. I'd take Kareem over Wilt.

I have a plan to take Kareem at 3 either. 1979-80's KAJ is the best choice, IMO.

Fair enough.

Its cool. I'd have to completely rethink my draft strategy with Wilt not eligible and rookie Shaq already off the board. Don't want to hold you guys up and I'm too deflated from losing out on my guy like that lol.
