Let's assume he gets signed before the end of December, I would assume that the league suspension would run through the end of this current season. Pretty doubtful he sees the court this year. Which is fine seen as how we're in mega tank mode.

Any predictions on what the contract might be? I'll say 4 years 80 million

Ha, suck it Ben!

Kidding... but I'm glad there's resolution one way or the other. I do wonder if they timed it around Christmas to sneak under the news cycle.

I'm interested to see:

A. what are the contract terms and are there any out clauses or stipulations?

B. are they signing him just to trade him or is the plan to keep him around?

C. Wondering how/when the league responds?

I'd honestly prefer he doesn't play this year, if at all. Good for the sneaky tank

Suspend him for the year. Get lucky and draft Wemby or Scoot. Lamelo, Scoot/Wemby with Miles finally gives us hope on the court.

Still a PR disaster

Same page. Glad to get some resolution and feedback on direction.

Will we ever hear directly from mj or mitch on this beyond a one sentence no comment?

Will miles ever show any remorse publicly?

I'm guessing no on both, which is s shame.

Acknowledging there is a problem is step 1.

No way he gets a full contract after this mess.

Most I'd do is 3yrs + player option for 90m total.

I barely paid attention to the weird contract situation. If he signs a deal does it start next season, or is the current season considered the first year of the deal?

Believe the later is correct

Can he sign a contract for this season since it's not in a free agent signing period?

This is exactly what I would push for. 3 + 1 player option for like 80 million (ideally less but no idea what the market is). Hes not getting paid anything this season then he would have 40 million secured over two years, regardless if he struggles/underperforms, and he can opt out after two seasons of restoring his image and building his value if he plays well.

Basically dangle the player option to secure as much of a yearly discount as possible. Not sure if its workable, but it would be nice to have some kind of clause where part of the final year money becomes unguaranteed if he gets into more trouble or violates any of the terms of whatever disciplinary measures get handed down.

You do realise a player option is in his favour right? In light of the situation it would have to be a team option or no option at all. Otherwise he just opts out when it all blows over if he's playing well or opts in if he goes full Batum on us.

The point of a player option is so we can lowball him as much as possible on the per year salary.

I don't think young fella has much bargaining power here when all signs point to him not even playing the entire first year of his contract
