Re: Welcome To Charlotte Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Yeah, I definitely like Taylor's fit coming off the bench. The Bobcats should have a pretty capable 2nd unit this season that can keep pace with the starters. We'll definitely run a deep rotation in Dunlap's system. We could see up to 10 players getting consistent minutes.
But starting two rookies on the wings just isn't going to happen. You guys can forget about that.

i agree. hendo is the starter and the deserves to be the starter until someone knocks him out of that spot, which i dont see happening next season.

lol bleacher report.
Seriously what kind of message does it send to MKG and Hendo if Jeffery Taylor is starting instead of one of them?
investigate Adam Silver

Not going to happen 1st game of the year, but I wouldn't discount it happening before the end of the year. Who cares if they are rookies if they play well through the course of the year... are you really going to continue to sit Taylor if he's clearly playing the best and is the best option at the 2? I think that is a possibility, I could definitely see a scenario where he beats out Hendo for the starting spot by the end of the year. Or Hendo gets traded for a big and we start Taylor.
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

I think if there is any competition at SG, Gordon would be next in line to start.

Unless Taylor is twice as good as anyone expects only a major injury would start Taylor over Hendo, and like the article itself says MKG was drafted to be the new face of the franchise. Barring injury your wing starters opening night will be Hendo and MKG. How things are going to work long term is up in the air however. Everything I have seen and read about Taylor make me think that he may very well be capable of eclipsing Hendo one day.

Re: Welcome To Charlotte Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
I can see how being drafted to Charlotte with a major talent at the same position is not the best scenario, especially when you slipped out of first round suddenly. It is one thing to play behind a proven player, who is older, than behind a top 2 pick, who happens to be actually younger than you. Becoming starter at that situation is practically over. So then it is up to that player whether he could embrace playing off the bench or not. I was thinking along those lines once I though Jeffery was kind of shocked initailly by how the draft has played out (as most of draftee was as well).

Re: Welcome To Charlotte Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Sigh. I agree 100% with that Bleacher Report. I think that Taylor has a shot at earning the starting role. MKG is something of a project and will take time to reach his full potential. Just because MKG was the #2 pick does not mean he will start.
I don't think that Hendo's starting role is safe either. You simply can't assume that Gordon is a 6th man on the Cats. Gordon has started for better teams.
This is obviously going to be another tank year, but you start building a winning culture by making folks earn their starting roles, especially under a new coach. You start the players that give you a shot at winning now, especially early in the year when it's a bit easier to sneak in a few wins. Read a great quote once along the lines of "early in the season bad teams don't know they are bad yet." Late in the season losing takes a toll, good teams start playoff pushes, and bad teams lose more.

My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Re: Welcome To Charlotte Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Let me put it this way. If Gilchrist is not ready to start, then the Bobcats made the wrong pick. If a ROOKIE 2nd round pick starts ahead of our 2nd overall pick, then we screwed up big time.
You guys are simply underrating MKG's value to this team. You are placing all of the emphasis on shooting. True, MKG's offense is a work in progress, but why discount everything else he can bring to this team? The guy is a lockdown defender capable of defending multiple positions. He has tremendous rebounding instincts for the position. He's tenacious attacking the glass. It's not like the guy is a complete black hole on offense. And most of all he brings character and a strong work ethic to this club that his teammates will feed off. When the Bobcats made the decision to draft MKG, they did it with the idea that this team requires a culture change. Gilchrist will bring that, but how can he effectively if he's nothing but a "project" coming off the bench?
I like Taylor too, but I would temper my expectations a bit more for a 2nd round pick. Taylor is the better shooter, but MKG wipes the floor with him in every other aspect of the game.

I think MKG will be significantly better than expected. There is a difference between being a shooter and a scorer. I think that due to his intangibles MKG will be a much better scorer than many of you expect.
Where's my little brother, BigbrotherDave? Are you starting to get an understanding of what we mean by intangibles yet?

#Bobcats say they have signed No. 2 overall pick Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Fairly simple these days under rookie scale.
