there is some definite growth required by vonleh. give him time before you expect him to be a regular NBA contributor.

A lot of people are suggesting a Bosh comparison - but I'm not really seeing it. He's not nearly as light on his feet.

I could see Noah hitting the weights hard the next 2 or 3 years and ending up a pretty muscular and thick set dude. That arse and those legs are pretty hefty (in a good way) and he looks like he could fill out really well.

I think he'll need to grow into his body before we'll really start to see what he is capable of.

But again, as for the Bosh and Aldridge comparisons, I'm not really feeling it.

He reminds me a lot more of Nene.

Paul Millsap with better defense?

After watching more of Vonleh, this is what I can see.

I'm not definitively saying anything more on this kid until I see some game tape. I watched like 2 Indiana games last year and it was a chore trying to find a top 5 worthy pick on that Hoosier team, he just didn't stand out.

I want to throw a name out there for people to compare and contrast because the Bosh comp doesn't do it for me. Clifford Robinson?

Vonleh is a much better rebounder but I can see it.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't suggesting that if he was Nene like it would be a bad thing.

I like Nene.

I like Nene.

I wasn't insinuating that you meant it negatively. I'm already excited about the pick and I saw your Nene comparison and it kinda excited me more

clifford robinson is one of my all-time favorite players and one of the more underrated players of the last 20 years.

i'd like to think vonleh will be a better rebounder, but if he can match cliff in the other areas, then we just found a steal.

Uncle Cliffy wasn't a great rebounder but he could score. A few names to throw out there though are Otis Thorpe and Wayman Tisdale.

I spent a bit of time watching everything I could find today

Floor: Jason Thompson

Realistically: Jalen Rose's comp of Horace Grant is a good one, although I'd say a rich man's version. Vonleh has excellent feet, better touch, and can run the floor better, and is a better rebounder and could have elite rebounding positioning. Also might have 3 point range. 17 and 10 with 2 assists, 1 block and 1 steal is a realistic goal in his prime.

If stars align, i.e not a chance but wishful thinking: Later years Karl Malone

I think Vonleh picked the wrong school to go to. You can't judge him based off his bad Indiana teammates and questionable schemes both offensively and defensively. Its like the coaching staff used this year as a rebuilding year after Oladipo and Zeller left, and let the kids do whatever they wanted.

He clearly has high boom/bust potential, but he dropped to us, and we can afford to take the risk. My only issue with him is IQ, I'm not sure if he has what it takes to be a star but rather a good 3rd option and 2-way player who can provide solid defense and great rebounding. Kevin Garnett at 18, if you go back and listen to his interviews, you could tell he was all there and was for real. Same with Kobe Bryant, and with Julius Randle. Wiggins...Vonleh...not so much

Karl Malone? Did you ever see him play?

He was far quicker than Vonleh ever will be.

He didn't really have a PG at Indiana. I think playing with Kemba he will be fine.

Of course I saw him play. Obviously I don't think he'll ever, ever come close to that, but if a magic genie came along and said "Vonleh will be one of the best PF's of all time" then I would think he adopted a lot of Malone's game
