Didn't make first or second all-defense :-(

15th in voting after finishing 9th in DPOY votes.

If their was a 3rd Team All Defense, MKG would have made it. He finished 15th in total voting, 21 total points and 2 first team votes.

MKG and Gobert don't make it after finishing top ten in DPOY, both ahead of Butler and Paul (both of whom made second team). Also John Wall, who received no DPOY votes.

Even though the teams are decided by who gets the most votes, the voters insist on choosing one player per position.

Caught up in the #s game of being a forward - Behind Leonard, Green, Davis, Butler and Lebron as 6th in forward voting. Not surprising giving the structure of how the voting works.

Still, was in pretty good company of guys who make 1st or 2nd team - MGasol, Gobert, Lebron and Bradley.

Gives MKG another chip to put on his shoulder for next year.

Even a fair amount of Bulls fans will tell you Butler was not playing All-NBA defense this year. Obvious that a lot of the votes were on name recognition only.

Is this the first year they've had positions on the All-D voting? I thought only the All-NBA teams had positions.

honestly i think its a joke that butler is in there above MKG unless your reasoning is games played. If you have another reason then you're just wrong in my opinion.

MKG should make it next season if he plays enough games, would help if we dont suck too. players on bad teams usually dont get awards.

It really shouldn't play a factor, but it obviously does. MKG's defense was probably the only thing keeping us from hanging around with the Lakers and Magic in the standings. Looking at the list, it appears that every player that made it either went to the 2nd round of the playoffs this year or they were Spurs. Even though this was supposed to be a regular season award, there's no doubt that recency bias and popularity were two very large factors.

MKG's teammate Mo Williams is shocked by the All-Defensive Team voting and posted on Twitter about it. He said...

what does shooting have to do with defense? Jordan,Allen and Bogut shouldn't have made the team either with that logic.

yeah, its an idiotic excuse. would have been much better just saying that he only played in 55 games and that's what hurt him the most, which is probably the biggest reason he didnt get as many votes. If MKG plays in 82 games, we are in the playoffs.

Ethan Strauss from ESPN made the same comment. Basically saying a guy can only play so much if he can't shoot.

Well Tony Allen made first team and he plays less minutes per game than MKG so **** that excuse.

The article was talking about Strauss' comments, had his tweet in the article.
