We should trade them Kaminsky for those 3 firsts?

Let's say we end up at 12 and the dropoff in talent is noticeable..... guys with huge question marks like Bol Bol, Doumbouya and Little.

Is packaging #12 enough to get Batum outta here to free up cap space to spend in FA? Or would the deal bring us back with an equally horrible contract, but less years?

I feel like with Bridges, Monk, Bacon and Graham...potentially Frank and or WHG, we have enough youth that we need to surround Kemba (if he stays) with NBA talent.

Could we trade Batum + 12 + something else for a player that can be relased in order to free up cap space, and then bring in someone that can contribute with the core of Kemba/Monk/Bridges/Bacon once FA starts 7/1?

I feel like this is the reason we brought Mitch in here.

I'm not high enough on any of our young guys to call them a "core", but it really depends on who we get in FA and how big the CLT tax we have to pay to get them here. It could be great, it could be meh. I honestly haven't looked at the FA list, but we need two way players bad.

Kemba (29) is going to be 33-34 by the time Bridges/Monk (both 21) start entering their prime at 24-25.

I think it's debatable which one is more high risk/high reward though which is what this franchise should be doing right now.

Imagine if we didn't have Batum..or Marvin..or Cody.. or Biz.. who all contributed nothing last season, we could have 1 or 2 max slots with Kemba's rights to make Charlotte a super enticing situation

I don't see us keeping this pick...we are definitely packaging it for Steven Adams or Gordon Hayward or hopefully Jaylen Brown

Don't get me excited about Jaylen Brown. We would have to gut our youth probably + 12, which makes you wonder what the roster would look like outside of Brown + Kemba. Bridges for sure and probably Monk + 12. If Brown is our SF of the future, maybe we can sub Bacon for Monk, and hope that Monk turns into a solid 3rd scoring option.

The Celtics aren't trading us Jaylen Brown for the 12th pick and whatever assortment of filler we tack on. That's a pipe dream.

Of the guys projected to be in range of the 12th pick I like Romeo Langford the most. He is a smart player that can do a little bit of everything - defend on and off the ball, pass, draw fouls, and shoot (his shooting hand thumb was injured all season). He also fills a roster need so Borrego will have playing time to develop him.

So welcome to draft lottery day. We played our usual strategy, sucking till near the end of the season, then pushing suddenly hard to make a run for a playoff spot, coming up short and screwing up our chances for a better lottery draw percentage.

Over the years I’ve known kids and employees who do this same thing; underachieve or give half effort at their job only to try and shine just before report cards or annual reviews. This team seems to have that collective mentality. Batum radiates this and is the poster child for the syndrome.

I hope we finally get some real luck and bounce into the top 3. Otherwise we likely trade a lottery pick to shed ourselves of one or two bad contracts for another slightly less horrible contract. What a waste.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Just did the lottery sim. Miami jumped 12 spots to 1 and we dropped a spot. Decided just to X out of that nonsense.

I literally have no hope that we will get a top 4 pick today. I'm just hoping that Miami and/or Boston don't jump up and drop us to 13 or 14.

This is what my Hornets fandom has come to... no hope to be good, just hoping that we don't suck as much.
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

Before any of you start to get excited about the possibility of moving into the top four, just remember who you're talkin about. We are the Charlotte **** Bobcats. No amount of rebranding will ever cover up the stench of this organization and the curse that looms overhead. Get ready to move down a slot to 13. It's coming.

Not to mention successive years of dropping back.

1 to 2 in 2012
2 to 4 in 2013

We only got Detroit's pick the following year because it too dropped from 8 to 9, albeit in our favor. Now if we just didn't leave that draft with Vonleh and Hairston.

This franchise has been so pathetic/average that if we ever do win a playoff series ill probably get emotional, no lie.

The Cavs got Lebron and the Bulls got Rose. Meanwhile NC guys like CP3, Curry, Wall, and Ingram are all playing for different teams. MJ needs to call in his once in a lifetime territorial pick.

I don't know about ya'll but I am wearing my lucky Hornets shirt at work today. Fingers crossed we win something for once. Zion would look good in teal!
