Apparently our guys weren't big fans of how the Barnes trade went down last night:

I am glad we lost out on Barnes, we would have been more frustrated with him than Batum

Id be really interested to know what our offer was for Barnes and whether it was independent of the Gasol Talks...would have been quite the shake up to bring in both

Regardless of the Memphis trade, two players that I think should not be on the roster by the end of the day are lamb and Frank. Neither of them have a future with the team and both have expiring deals that should be worth something to someone.

It's nothing against lamb, he's done a solid job in the role he's been given this year, but we simply can't afford to give him a Marvin type deal out of loyalty. Wings who can score 15 points a game are not that hard to find.

Agreed

I honestly wouldn't be shocked to see us trade for Jimmy Butler today. There's been talk that he won't extend with Philly, so he'd be a rental, but if we can dump salary and move guys we aren't bringing back anyway (i.e. Lamb and Frank) at the cost of a 1st I say go for it.

I just hope we don't do something really dumb today and then lose Kemba anyway. Don't panic, make some mid-grade trades to help out in the meantime. Something like Lin for Frank, Lamb and a #2 would be just fine.

It seems like a lot of the trades going down are ones that were never rumors. I wonder what surprising deals we might see today. Who knows who might be available.

Our DNP-CD player has more trade value than our starting SF.

Be interesting to see if Beal gets sent somewhere. Washington doesn't have much reason to hold onto him if John Wall is going to destroy whatever chance they had at being competitive.

Worst case scenario has to be that the Gasol deal falls through and we move Frank for a 2nd. Then we'll hear all about the Boston package again.

I honestly won’t miss Frank at all. He came here cursed with that trade offer we declined (stupidly). But on top of that, his defense is just so many levels below NBA caliber that whatever he brings on offense is just not worth it. I think on a good team who just needs spot up shooters, he could flourish. That’s just not us. He’s also another one who **** his pants in crunch time. We have plenty of those already.

a 2nd for Frank? I don't think that's even possible. Maybe some 'cash considerations'

Wizards best bet is to hold onto Beal and make a draft day trade with him. Trading him now does them no favors.

Is it safe to assume Frank is not part of the proposed Gasol deal then?

One more thing. Are there any guys out there that are clutch? Like someone we can just use in the last 5 minutes of a close game, but don’t need to rely on the entire game?

I don't care about trying to move from 8th to 6th in the east. We have to think bigger then that. The difference maker that is going to be switching teams is AD. Maybe not at the deadline but at some point.

We should be positioning ourselves to move for AD either by trade or free agency.

I would offer Monk, Zeller, Frank, Miles, and a Billy King pick package now. If that doesn't work I would stand pat and look to dump Batum and Zeller next year when their contacts are one year shorter and more attractive.

Mirotic traded to the Bucks for literally nothing at all
