Re: Fake Trade Thread #7
Aaron Gordon just signed a pretty big extension with Nuggets.
He is owed 23 mil, 32 mil, 34mil and 37 million over the next 4 yrs.
I wonder if they would consider a Miles Bridges swap, where he makes 25 million and 23 million over the next two years and gain some future flexibility.

no chance, Gordon is perfect for what they need next to Jokic. Miles can't replace his defense. Gordon is also not exactly a fit for us either
investigate Adam Silver

Yeah honestly I might not even do it if I am Charlotte. Paying Gordon 35+ million is a lot for any team, he is basically a worse version of OG and people already don't like his contract. Straight up I might consider but no way I am giving up firsts on top.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #7
Bennedict Mathurin will possibly be a luxury tax casualty for Indiana if they bring Miles Turner back. Probably could be had pretty cheap but not sure if we need any more questionable defense 2's, especially if we draft VJ. Just thinking the value will probably be good though and he is young enough still to possibly become more in an environment with more opportunity.

I think people are uninterested in the price rather than the player. Is Herb Jones worth moving from 4 to 7?
I'm not super knowledgeable about him but depending on the salary going out, I think so. Other than last year, he's generally stayed healthy and he's got 2 more years on his deal at a very affordable amount.
I was more questioning the deals in the thread. Herb would be nice but I dont feel like its worth dropping from 4-7 unless we have a specific target in mind.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #7
I really want to keep the 4th pick. I like either Ace or VJ, and waffle between who I’d prefer the most, but we get whomever Philly doesn’t take, or our choice if they surprise with Tre.
If we trade back to 7, we’re drafting a rotational player or a project. I don’t think Herb Jones is THE answer as fifth starter, and he’s coming off rotator cuff surgery. That’s a nasty operation that could affect his play long term.

Would you guys be interested in Jalen Green/Jabari Smith/#10 for Bridges/Green/#4?

its tempting because we get rid of a headache and $, even though I championed for going for Smith before I think I want to keep 4.
so not for me, im sure Houston fans would say im mad and they are over paying (they probably are) but Green has too many ??? for me as well.

Yes I would but that isn’t a deal they’d do. Houston probably needs a consolidation trade strategy; they’ve got lots of young depth but need a star to make an impact step up. They really need a PG; would they offer that package if we put Melo on the block? Salaries wouldn’t match so maybe they’d throw little Reed Sheppard into the pile. Doubt they’d trade all three players and their #10 for Melo, but that’s what I’d be asking for. Hornets could then offer the 4 & 10 plus Sheppard to swap with the Spurs for the 2nd pick and take Harper. Or offer the 4, 10 and a future first. IF the Spurs make such a deal, Harper becomes our restart PG, an eventual star, with Sheppard as back up (or send him to the Spurs in a variation on the deal).BETTER YET…send the Spurs the #10 plus Jalen Green and some seconds for the #2. Or even add a future 1st if necessary. Totally designed for a massive restart to get Harper. If we have the 2 AND the 4…oh baby.
Then trade Miles to Detroit for Tobias Harris and some picks. Adds a solid vet who is on an expiring. Trade Josh Green and our two seconds to move into the mid to later first round and grab one of those center projects. Eventually trade Nurkic by deadline.
Harper - Tre Mann - KJ Simpson
VJ Edgecomb - Jeffries/Mann
Miller - Harris
Jabari Smith - Moussa - Grant/Tiddy
Mark Williams - Nurkic - Center project - Moussa
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Otoh, on a not so different profile, Sochan might be an interesting target to replace Bridges. The fit with Victor is questionable, and i really doubt he's a long term piece for SA.
He's still on his rookie contract so the main questions would be what needs SA in a 3 teams trade (they likely would not want Bridges) and what kind of expansion would Sochan get/cost.
Not saying he's a main target or something, but he should be (?) cheaper than Gordon and an improvement (defense...) on Bridges despite the 3's shooting.
Pretty sure there are other options (players without playing time, players that are 'hidden' behind a star/superstar and expect more recognition).

I heard Perth linked to getting another young french guy as part of their "Next Star" program.
maybe Noa Kouakou-Heugue?

Indeed, i spoke about him somewhere else. He's more advanced than Coulibaly, has good size, fundamentals.. Good shooting too, but his defense is what defines him the best (he's a pest with great mobility and focus either in 1/1 or as part of team defense). Team player though, not really an alpha in the making, but strong support player at worst. Curious to see how he develops his body, that will most likely be critical in his positioning on the court
Hard not to get some Bridges vibes with him (Mykal, the good one). Got to develop a midrange game though and provoke more to finish at the line (among other things).

Perth coach isn't big on defense but hopefully he gets a chance to develop. Like I said before, I don't rate him as a coach.

Coach's old team needs to get a contract or two off the books. Who wants to help?

I'd take Kristaps + 1st for Nurkic.
They expire at the same time, but getting rid of Porzingis will take them down a tax level.

I would say his fit with Wemby is probably fine and his defense is going to be needed more than ever if Spurs are truly trying to make Castle/Fox/Harper work.

I think they would want us to give up Nurkic and 1st for KP in that scenario.
