Two guys that are being underutilized on their current teams but could put up big numbers in a starting role for the Bobs are Kanter and Ed Davis. I've watched Kanter closely this year and when he sees the court, he produces. Wonder if the Jazz could be drawn into a Hendo for Kanter straight up?

This actually works it would appear. I would also have Charlotte getting a pick from Minny.

I'm still a believer in Derrick Williams ability as a PF. SF is not a position where I think he can excel in the future.

T'Wolves give up too much there, especially if you have them sending a pick our way.

I'd definitely bite on that but I doubt that they would. Kanter was a number 3 pick just last year. I see them moving Milsap or Jefferson before they get rid of Kanter.

Yeah I see Millsap or Jefferson being the first one moved. Are they still looking for a SG?

I doubt Hendo+Diop's expiring+Portland pick gets us Millsap, but it's something I'd think long and hard about assuming we'd be able to sign him to an extension as part of the deal

I would personally do it in a heartbeat.

Most posters on this board would disagree but I think it makes sense when you consider that we'll likely be letting Henderson walk in FA otherwise.

Brooks worked on his body over the offseason and it shows. He needs the ball in his hands to be effective and there arent enough shot opportunities for him to be useful in Brooklyn. With Charlotte's anemic offense however, I think he could really blossom and at least make for some more exciting basketball during the next year or two.

As to the earlier poster who linked the suggested trade involving Kemba and Kanter as the principles for Char and Utah, I think you'd at least have to consider it. People who arent in the know will look at both players' stats and say thats insane. However, Kanter is a true 5 wide body banger who loves contact, plays physical post defense and has a nose for rebounds – everything Mully and Tyrus are not. He also has some crafty post moves. He had a couple pre-season games where he was down-right dominant. He just never sees minutes in Utah right now since they’re competing for the playoffs and he is 4th on their depth chart behind two established allstar level Bigs in Milsap and Jefferson as well as Favors. A week or so ago when two of those guys where hurt and Kanter got his first start, he posted 18/9. Now he’s back to the bench.

Make those moves, continue to suck this year and next for another top 3 in 2014 to have a shot at Wiggins or Parker and then in two years the core would look something like:

Sessions (resigned) / Drafted PG with Portland pick to groom or youngish FA like Maynor
Wiggins /Brooks / Taylor
MKG / Taylor
Zeller / Mullens
Kanter / Biz

Fully agree - brooks or ed davis have been my picks that I think would be a good fit in our system. Though both are very different, they both would fill gaps we have right now in our play. I'd be happy to trade for both (gerald for brooks and biz for davis). We wouldn't lose much on defense, but would gain a lot on the offensive side.

We would most likely get Davis for the Portland pick, we would never trade Biz for him.

I don't see us giving up Bizzy, especially seeing how he's been playing recently.

I like biz and would hate to trade him, but we are in desperate need of a scoring big man that can consistently crash the boards. Without a superstar guard, we need someone down low to fill up the stats and nobody is stepping up on the current roster. Is there a game that we have not been out rebounded this year??

Ed Davis isn't the answer, debo. That's like begging Lois Lane to fly you around.

Isn't he like the Byron Mullens of shooting guards?

Got some skills but not real smart.

Yes, I agree with dealing Hendo for Brooks, and I want Davis, and would deal Biz to get him, but prefer to trade one of our picks. However, how easily can we deal that Portland pick? Bonnell makes it sound like trading the pick might be difficult due to the conditions on the pick.

Not sure Cho would deal one of our precious picks, but we must get a post player who can score, defend and board. I like getting young upside guys who can play but aren't rookies. Brooks and Davis would be awesome building blocks to add to Kemba & MKG.

No way I am dealing a pick or biz for Ed davis and brooks neither one of these guys are going to make us better this season....this is just the kind knee jerk reaction that we use to condemn the bobcats for.

We just need some offense and Cho always says trade for need- I'd love for us to trade Diop or K.Love, but I don't see how we can land that caliber of player with what we have. On further thought, the fact that cho passed on drummond says that he plans on keeping biz so that is out of the picture. Since he has reached his ceiling, Hendo is going to be shopped and I think brooks has the type of fight and talent this team needs to fill that gap.

The type of knee jerk crap we used to pull would be to trade kemba and biz for kirilenko and barea

I don't think offense is really the problem. I think rebounding and defense would give us a more equal playing field, because that's where we are hurt the most. Now, Davis would help rebounding but Biz is developing into quite a good rebounder himself. Brooks is one dimensional.

I don't mind the idea of trading the Reggie and the Portland pick for Ed Davis and their 2nd.

I would remind everyone that there is NO guarantee of getting a quality starting PF in the draft. Again, Cho says trade for need. We need a PF (assuming they now see Biz as a 5). Frankly Biz will never have the kind of game that would make him a quality 4. He will always be an undersized center, who can play some defensive 4. Is that enough? It may have to be, depending on our personnel. Having a long tall 4 who can score, defend and rebound would compliment Biz, and balance our scoring. Kevin Love would be perfect! No way we could get him unless we offer a LOT. Frankly, I would offer a lot for him.

the question now, assuming you're correct, is whether it's smarter to do the trade now or later, say draft day

I'd rather trade for Aldridge, who hasn't whined once about his organization, is injured much less often, and is more of an all-around player than Love. I keep thinking OKC will offer some crazy package for him, to pair him and Ibaka in the frontcourt and the more and more I think about it, the more it makes perfect sense. If OKC can't make the deal, Aldridge/Biz could work pretty nicely. Aldridge can actually carry a team. Love averaged 20/15 two years ago and led his team to a whopping 17 wins.
