I'd be fine with 20ppg and 5apg if we had a future star like Wiggins. I don't feel like Kemba has to average 8-10 assist for us to be successful. I hope he patterns his game after a champion like Tony Parker instead of a media hyped Chris Paul.

Parker has averaged 8apg these last two seasons.

Yes, Parker has averaged a little under 8apg these last two seasons, 2apg more than Kemba currently averages, and has yet to win a championship averaging over 6.1apg. Just my personal opinion but I think assist is a overrated stat. I'd rather Kemba work on his leadership skills more than his court vision even though he should focus on both. I think Kemba has a bad habit of overthinking making the right pass which lead to him being hesitant sometimes. That's something that'll improve if he becomes more confident as a leader.

I agree I want his assists to be around 8 but don't expect it until he has a could other guys around him. Next year 20 and 5 will be great after that if we can get a big name I think a drop in points and rise in assists is a good thing.

Parker averages 8 assist because he's surrounded with snipers from deep. He can get in the paint and dish it out to Green, Ginobili, Leonard, Neal, etc. Walker gets in the paint and has almost no one to dish it to.

Let's not ignore the fact that Parker is lethal inside of 10 feet, much more so than Kemba. He creates those passing lanes.

But it is nonetheless interesting to compare the two at age 22:

Parker needed to improve his free throw shooting and just stop taking nearly as many three-pointers. It's not as simply for Kemba, who has to become a better three-pointer shooter going forward, as he doesn't have the same ability to finish around the rim.
Humble yourself.

Agree fats.

Kemba reminds me of the man himself Tim Hardaway and needs to watch some tape on Mr. Bug.

Thanks for posting that Tim Hardaway mix. That took me down memory lane of when he was one of my favorite players growing up. I always thought that Kemba had a similar game to Tony Parker, but with a little more flair & emotion, like Tim Hardaway. Therefore, I guess it's safe to say that Kemba is something like a Tony Parker/Tim Hardaway hybrid. Hopefully, he can live up to their achievements as well throughout his career.

boy, those age-matched comparison stats between tony parker and kemba are pretty cool, huh? not nearly as good FG% for kemba, but he stacks up very well otherwise.

Hardaway averaged a lot more assists and was a consistent low twenties per game scorer but he is played in one of the most high octane offenses in league history with real talent in Richmond and Mullin.

Later on in his career he became the flair of those Riley/Zo Miami teams which were either a basketball team or a chain gang, I'm not sure which.

Tim Bug was an assassin on the court and had a remarkable toughness for a little guy.

What Kemba could learn from the Bug is how he quite often created opportunities for his team mates with his circus handle, a lot of guys get zoned in once they've broken their man off the dribble and take it to the cup as soon as the D collapses, Bug probably averaged 2-3 assists a game with little scoop passes to the guy standing next to him under the hoop.

Kemba needs to learn that once the D has collapsed on him there are probably 2-3 guys standing around open.

Tim Bug knew that if the defense didn't know if he was going to shoot or pass they couldn't commit too much either way, this equals points and a lot of them on good efficiency.

I know plenty will say Wallace, but Walker as soon as next season will be better.
