So first off, lets start with Gatz. Wonderful pick.

Seriously though, Rookie Shaq and Durant is a beast.

Outside of the All NBA category shooting is at a premium when it comes to overall talent. Especially in volume. A lot of guys left that shoot it well but don't bring much else to the table. I've already got the guy down low to wreak havoc and draw double teams in the post. Now I need the guy that can feed him the ball and create spacing for him to go to work.

Stephen Curry, 13-14, Stone Hands

It's not his best year, but I didn't want to dive into my All-NBA pool for that. But it might be his most complete year. He still shot 43% from three, averaged 24.0 points a game, and had a career high in assists at 8. He was doing all this before the guys around him got better. Supply him with a great big man down low and I think this season can do wonders for me.

I'll take the greatest shooter of all time and pair him with the best big man year that can be selected in this draft and build from there.

Wilt, Kareem, MJ, and Lebron are my NBA mt. Rushmore. I think those are the only four who belong in the GOAT discussion.

I'd still prefer Bird over Lebron, but that's the fun of these drafts, each player can be argued.
If Lebron had Bird's drive to win and improve, especially his shooting touch, then Lebron would be GOAT.

Game on the line, 20 seconds left to win it, I would prefer giving it to Bird than Lebron

Bird is my 5th and I hate leaving him off because hes like the baddest dude ever.

Thats exactly who i was taking with my second pick to pair with Wilt. I even made the post before deleting it like 30 seconds later after realizing that I sniped myself and my master plan came crashing down.

Its pointless for me to even get upset about guys getting taken right now considering its still 5 picks away from my pick.

Fats top NBA players of all-time (i'm excluding the guys from the 50s and 60s that played in an era that I can't even relate to anymore - Russell, Wilt, West, Baylor, Cousy, Oscar etc... I just don't know how to rank Russell and Wilt vs players that actually played against more than 8 teams, against more than a handful of tall guys and teams with more than 3 black dudes.

1. MJ
2. Kareem
3. Lebron
4. Magic
5. Bird

would rank more but don't want to give away any more of my thoughts :)

Average height wasnt that much different. There werent many guys over 7', but the centers Wilt played against were pretty much all 6'9" to 7' (couple exceptions), which is basically the same as the center position today. I mean, playing 6'7"/6'8" SFs at center is a thing now. The reason the other dudes all look so small in those old videos is because Wilt was so freakishly huge, kind of how Shaq made dudes look in his day, but Wilt was even a bit bigger.

When Wilt was in his 30s and noticeably much slower and less athletic he played young Kareem pretty evenly. Kareem never really started clearly getting the best of him until Wilt was a shell of his former self.

I do think that most players from the 50s and 60s era wouldnt translate well in general to todays game, but thats mostly due to lack of ball handling skills and ball skill related things that dont matter for guys like Wilt and Russell.

Wilt is still the best athletic specimen the league has ever seen and he was tremendously skilled to boot. He had excellent post moves and is one of the better passing centers we've seen (led the league in total assists one year later in his career). I just dont see any way he wouldnt dominate in any era (although his crazy stats wouldnt translate). I think he would even benefit in some ways from the modern game. Imagine how much of a field day modern PGs would have throwing him vertical passes and working in the PnR. Imagine how much defensive value a guy with that length, athleticism, and mobility, would have in modern defensive schemes. I think the small ball era would be donezo and the league would warp around him like it did Shaq if he played today.

This is such a hard choice, as there are 3 players here that I really want. I am going to build my team with the theme of championship pedigree and relentless defense, based on who fell to me.

I'll go with rookie Tim Duncan, 97-98.

As a rookie, Timmy was an All-Star, All-NBA 1st team (!!), Rookie of the Year, 2nd team all Defense, posted 21.1 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks, on 55% shooting. A quintessential teammate, automatic points on the block, and honestly I don't know how he's still here but I'm thankful.

I am going to slot him at center for now.

PG:
SG: Kobe Bryant (2008; NBA MVP, 1st team all NBA, 1st team all Defense, 28.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 5.4 apg, 1.8 spg)
SF:
PF:
C: Tim Duncan (1998; All-Star, 1st team all NBA, 2nd team all Defense, Rookie of the Year, 21.1 ppg, 11.9 rpg, 2.5 bpg, 2.9 apg, 55% FG)

Hell of a choice Coolio. I really considered him but would have just been bored out of my mind selecting him and Robinson and putting a real life pairing together.

Got the two best players of their generations. Impressive.

Sorry if there was a delay I'm out on the lake on my phone. Back to back snipes

Anyways I have to move in on a guy. An anchor.

Let me tell you about heart. About intangibles. Desire. The will to succeed. Did two people deserve to play together more than nash and this man? This is the one piece of toughness that nash lacked on those suns teams. A perfect fit. Heart of a champion. Defense of a titan. Hustle of pete rone. Character of Abe Lincoln. Belief.

South cack. Chi. Sota. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!

03-04 1st team all nba first team all defense. MVP. Champion. Kevin garnett.

Wonderful pick. I had long shot hopes of going Robinson, KG, and Durant. Almost had 2 out of three. Three seven footers on one court would have been glorious.

This was my All NBA pick I was struggling to pull the trigger on with my last pick. I just couldn't do it with already having one defensive big man.

I love this pick.

Also that PnR and PnP with Nash is gonna be NASTY

I should have stayed in and just chosen rookie Tim Duncan instead of Wilt. Mistakes were made lol.

I'm gonna burn someone if Lamar takes my pick. There's like a 0.0000001% chance he will and I'm pretty sure it's a terrible pick on my part but I'm doing it.

Hoping Lamar is so **** up on his rafting trip that the he picks Nikoloz Tskitishvili as his Big White Stiff. I'll vote him first place just for that.

I'd have to think of some other things. But I was always interested in these Scavenger Hunt drafts. Finally getting to do one is so awesome. Tons of fun finding out these about players you never knew.

As long as people are participating and having fun, I'll keep trying to make new scavenger hunt drafts and cathouse drafts. :) I'd like to do either a 2015-15 NBA Scavenger Hunt draft or perhaps one limited to just a single decade, maybe the 90s, or maybe even a Scavenger Hunt draft limited to only players who have played for the Hornets/Bobcats.

We all know that Lamar is going to pick some obscure 80s player that was a total bad ass and that no one but fat has ever heard of. I should be allowed to go ahead and make my pick.
