Re: Hornets sign MCW
Kemba vouched for this guy and pushed the front office to sign him... The two instances of the front office following Kemba's personnel advice landed us Big Al and MCW. We should probably never listen to his roster suggestions again.

Kemba, Big Al, and MCW all have the same agent. Go figure.

Gonna be difficult for Lamb to play with this offensive clutz of a hyphenated name throwing up airballed layups and defenses daring him to shoot 3s knowing it'll likely clank off the side of the backboard.

I think that YouTube compilation is missing last night's blown layup
Probably should rename the the thread to Michael "AYYYE" Carter-Williams Thread

I think he should play with Dwight more, I think the best play he can do is one of those kamikaze drives which seems to suck in a couple of players which would allow Dwight to feed on the O board. Seriously, how many times did he suck in the opponent centre then put up an ugly shot that gave a short rebound. Dwight would gobble those up.

Agreed, it's past time for Dwight to move to the 2nd unit

Re: Hornets sign MCW
All I want for Christmas is for MCW to fall out of the rotation. I don’t know how many games will it take for this poor excuse of a coaching staff to realize that he’s a heavily negative net player and has always been throughout his career. That’s why he hasn’t been able to stick on none of the previous 3 teams (PHI, MIL, CHI) that had high hopes for him being a part of their future.

Not worth the increase of passes going into the 2nd row, IMO.

Re: Hornets sign MCW
Yeah but every time I've seen Dwight and MCW play together, it's equal to at least one Bismack Biyombo in the number of unforced turnovers and bobbled basketball plays. Neither player has any finesse or touch whatsoever (Dwight gets away with it b/c of his size and athleticism) so the combination of the two can get pretty tragic, especially if you have players like MKG that like to turn invisible on offense.

Sessions is a free agent this off-season.
About a 33% chance we sign him again

So where just gonna act like big AL didn't bring Hornets out of sh*t hole they were in and bring us to being a respectable team who competes for a playoff spot? you really think Walker would have resigned here if it wasn't for big al coming here and changing the culture and at least making them competitive? Not even a chance.

I don’t think Kemba had much of a choice at that time because he would’ve been a restricted free agent where the Hornets would’ve matched almost any offer and Kemba didn’t have much clout or respect at that time around the league to demand a big contract. Most people thought it was a bad contract at the time including a lot of people on this board (not me of course).
A lot of people that I usually agree with hated the Big Al signing. I personally loved it at the time. Little did I know that the coaching staff would misuse him and the rest of his surrounding parts in a strategy nicknamed Alfense. Similar to Dwight right now I hated the way Clifford used Big Al more than I disliked him as a player.

We aren't still in a sh*t hole and are a respectable team?
Signing Al was literally the worst thing that has happened to this franchise since I started following it (when Kemba was drafted).
We lost our 1st round pick that year, which we owed to Chicago, but with top 10 protection. We also seriously hampered MKG's development by throwing him in the shame corner all season. He actually looked super promising his rookie season, but then took a huge step backwards in his second year when Cliff took over and we signed Al.
Al was only good here for half a season in his first year, which resulted in getting swept in the first round by Miami in predictable fashion. He then immediately regressed to being absolutely awful (even worse than he normally was) and was a huge drag on the team for the rest of his tenure.
Hiring Clifford and signing Al sabotaged the rebuild we had going.

Re: Hornets sign MCW
Wasn't that the 2014 draft? (The draft we also got the pistons pick)
If we kept the pick and not signed Al, we could've got smart, randle or even Gordon,
My guess, we get randle with our pick and McDermott with the pistons pick.

Yep, also Embiid was one spot ahead of Gordon at 3. We probably would have been in the 3-7 range with our pick.
