I posted this trade a while back and it didn't seem to get many views but I think it makes total sense.

In summary, it's a three teamer with Cleveland and Memphis where we get out of Batum's contract, and arguably improve our lineup:

Charlotte trades: Willy Hernangomez, Jeremy Lamb, Nic Batum, 2019 first (with maybe like a top 10 protection), second rounder (2019 or 2020)

Charlotte receives: Tristan Thompson, Rodney Hood, Marshon Brooks

The new depth chart for us would be:

Kemba/Parker
Hood/Monk
Bridges/Bacon
Williams/MKG
Thompson/Zeller

A couple of cavs fans responded and said it wasn't even close to right value wise which I think is very stupid considering they'd get a solid first rounder for guys that had no value just last season

I think they intend to let Beal stat pad all season to build up his trade value as they tank for a good draft pick.

RealGM blurb says there is little trade interest in Jabari Parker. Well...I do...especially if they’d take Batum. Just seems the Hornets and Bulls have pieces each other could use to improve.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

No doubt....not big on Parker, but if they take Batum that changes things. Would like to include Rolo too, and combine these ideas...

Hornets get - Parker, Thompson
Hornets give - Batum, Biyombo, 2019 1st lottery protected, two 2nds

Bulls get - Batum, Biyombo, Hornets 2019 1st lottery protected, two 2nds
Bulls give - Parker, Lopez

Cavs get - Lopez
Cavs give - Thompson

Hornets improve by adding the defensive minded rebounding machine in Thompson, and adding Parker to be a 3rd scoring option along with Kemba and Lamb

Bulls are not attracting big time free agents for a couple more years until their young guys get better. Here they take add some picks by taking on salary while the young guys play and get better.

Cavs get an expiring contract to move the Thompson contract. They have Kevin Love on their roster to attract some free agents, and this gives them more cap space along with their other expirings

Starting to wonder if Kupchak does not want to keep all picks considering the roster. If Monk/Batum+1st lottery protected is enough for Parker/Holiday+filler, that should be a priority though.
Holiday could do wonders here i think. And parker could be enough to give this team a low post threat and cut all the perimeter oriented offense (or Parker/Kemba hero ball).

Otoh i just saw the ranking in the west and NO at the bottom. Wondering what would it take to land Holiday here (with the idea of keeping Kemba) ?
Thiswould work (with what kind of sweetener) on the paper, knowing Jrue has two years left after this one (2020/21 being a PO for 27Mish).
Such a trade witht he one with Chicago could really put the team back on track on the paper (but some Morris type of player would be needed in the paint from the bench, like the Collins from Atlanta or Bryant from was, a solid athletic & smart big).

btw i did not pick the two Holidays for the fun of it. Its just that they would at least bring some kind of two ways profiles at the guard/wing positions

Are we giving up two firsts in that deal? Pelicans hang up so fast

The fork in the road for Kupchak and why he’s waiting to make a move is that he’s undecided to try to package future 1st rounders to get Kemba some help or to package Kemba to get future assets.

Looking at the wiretap, Memphis seems like a mess right now. I wonder if Marc Gasol is up for grabs. I think he'd be a good fit for this team.

I’d offer willy and Frank as our younger prospects with their choice of biz or Marv with a 2nd for gasol.
I’d take Casspi as well. He could play the 3/4.

Watching Wiggins today and I would definitely trade Batum for him. He's at least a threat offensively and doesn't sit around with his thumb up his bum

In terms of bad contract, i d rather swap Parsons and Batum. Parsons as injury prone as he is would be more agressive than any version of this Batum ghost. And one less year of contract (that would need compensation for memphis obviously).
That or the Jabari Parker trade idea.
The risk of having to keep a worst contract than Batum's is huge, i hope Kupchak has cold blood. Knowing i don't believe that much in Miles - maybe he would flourish in a team who is much better defensively as he could be a killer in transition -, Monk on the other end has showed lots of improvement. Maybe he will be a legit 6th man untill the end of the season.

We saw that all other wings are pretty up and down (Bacon was pretty much useless too yesterday), the only bright side being more playtime for Graham (and less Parker). Even though refs are not really helping him (some rookies like Doncic are more marketable most likely).

I could easily be talked into kemba, Batum for Barnes, Smith and would probably need Powell to match salary.

I can't see us getting a good draft pick for kemba and Smith is probably the best potential pg I could see us getting

We can only hope someone will Nicklaus Batum off our team. Surely there is a GM dumb enough to do it.

Per Sean Deveney:
Ater bumping him from the rotation, the @hornets have been taking offers for Frank Kaminsky, sources told SN. One team tried to acquire him, but Charlotte wanted to do a package with Nic Batum. No dice.

Almost every rumor has indicated Mitch's number one priority is to get out from under Batum's contract. He's thinking in the right direction at least, I'm not shocked there are no takers.

I am beginning to think the best avenue to take would be to trade Kemba for the best young talent available and draft picks. His value will never be higher. If we can trade Batum with Kemba and take back a semi bad contract with the young talent and draft picks, I would definitely do that although it is doubtful we can even trade Batum with Kemba. Hope this makes some sense to get out of the mess we are currently in.

Not necessarily challenging this, but don't remember any rumors about Batum since Mitch came on board. Am I missing something?

EDIT: my bad, just saw that article.

Would you rather trade Batum + 1st for an expiring and resign Lamb, or stand pat and let Lamb walk next summer?

Only trade Batum + 1st if we’re going to do whatever it takes to keep Kemba and make the playoffs for the next 3-5 years.

I don’t expect us to re-sign Lamb regardless of what happens really unless we miraculously go deep into the playoffs and he’s a key part of that.
