Is this guy becoming part of the core pieces?

I viewed him as a energy guy off the bench nothing more nothing less. I might be underselling his value.

Tiddy with the deer antlers

I don't recall Moose unleashing that floater before, saving it for Wemby? If he's got that in his bag then wouldn't hitting threes only be a matter of time?

We don't really mention it but Diabate is only 24 (turned 24 last week) so he's the same age as our other core pieces. So I'm not sure there's much of a reason why Diabate can't be considered the teams future center with the way he's playing.

As a starter he's averaging just barely shy of a double double (9.4pts, 9.8rebs) on 68% shooting while he plays really good defense and does the dirty work.

We've screwed around and created a very balanced starting 5, and it would not be so balanced without Diabate.

He is just really inconsistent and a lot of what makes him good still depends on nightly matchups. Yes, he is a great option on Wemby because he can take away a lot of the things Wemby likes to do on the perimeter vs the slower bigs.

The whole team did a great job of switching and preswitching to keep bigger players like Grant on Wemby when Moussa got switched off. Credit to good coaching on this and exercising a good game plan. Moussa for sure had a few plays that wowed but it was 5 players guarding Wemby all night.

He's almost never missing games, thats another quality that some dudes like, say, AD, dont have. For almost 60 times less a year
That being said, of course he is not starter material for a contender, even if he improves

On a side note, Moussa could be a nice/valuable trade piece if Orlando and Charlotte want to trade pieces and picks. They are really good trade partners on the paper (wing depth for Charlotte, restoring flexibility/picks on Orlando's side even if it does not imply Suggs or AB).

i think moose needs to get some chatter for making an all-def team this year. 2nd team all-def feels within grasp if we keep playing well and our defense stays top 10 rest of way. but buzz needs to start now.

Going to be a hard sell I think, we rank 17th in def rating.
Moussa is 69% Def EPM.
Our defensive rating is only 2 pts better when Moussa is on floor vs off.

I think his ability to switch is valuable to us, but I don't think he is necessary anchoring a top tier defense.

Yeah I just don't think there is any statistical backing that says Moussa deserves it.

He is playing well and honestly it is better for us extension wise if he continues to fly under the radar.

We should offer him an early extension if it is allowed. We have him for less than 3 million next year.

Offer him 2/14 or 3/24 starting next year which is one year early and that would be hard to turn down.

Him and Duren have history going all the way back to highschool when Duren played at Montverdge and Moose at IMG. This wont be the last time they get after one another. Hopefully not one tenth as bad as the last time.

I know it's the right thing PR wise to say what the guys are saying, but the damage is already done so I really wish they'd frame it as "it was wrong BUT we did it in response to XYZ and we aren't going to be bullied" or whatever
