If we end up picking somewhere around #10 - 11, and we have a shot at Derrick Williams, I would consider that like winning the mini Lottery. That kid is much better than where he is projected to go at this point. I fear that when the Draft nears, he may climb up into the Top 5.

To put it into perspective (and I know it's the kids Vs the men) but there are only two guys averaging 20ppg in the NBA (plenty averaging more than 20ppg, but only two averaging 20ppg) and they are Z-Bo and Rudy Gay.

Thing is, Z-Bo needs 17 fga's to get his 20ppg and Rudy needs 16.

Furthermore, there is no scorer in the NBA today from the top 25 (which range from 16ppg - CP3 to 29ppg - KD) that are doing it on single figure fga's per game.

THe closest is Billups who is averaging 17ppg on 11 fga's per game.

So how is he doing it? The shorter 3pt line and a good free throw rate?

He shoots 63% from the floor. He also gets to the line a lot (attacks the rim hard) averages 9 fta's per game where he converts at a 75% clip.

He's amazingly effecient.

That's pretty cool. In the NBA he'd probably get 18 FTA a game...

Glad to see that my man Derrick Williams is doing great...
Not to brag, but I just wanted to say: I Predicted that! I hope his skills transition well into the NBA (I think they will)... I think DWill could eventually be a Danny-Granger like guy (if not better)

Except that his game is nothing like Danny Grangers?

Well, my hopes for us getting Derrick Williams if we miss the Playoffs and pick around #10 appear to be dashed. He is climbing up everyones draftboard. On the ESPN mock just 2 weeks ago, we were landing him at #10 now and then. Now, he is all the way up to #4 on Chad Ford's ESPN Mock Draft computer. Behind only Jones, Irving and Sullinger. Maybe Enos Kanter will drop a few spots. Talented big man and young with big upside.

Do yall think Harrison Barnes will drop low enough for us to draft him? Yes he'll be very raw, but the potential is most def there.

according to the consensus mock draft
http://www.nbadraft.net/nba_mock_drafts/consensus

he'll drop to 13th. If we draft him, someone like Tyler Honeycutt with the NOH pick, Keith Benson in the 2nd round, and resign Crash on the cheap in '13 to mentor Harrison Barnes, i'll be very very happy with this trade

DJ/Hendo/Honeycutt/Barnes/Thomas/Benson is a nice young core to add on, we would still need that franchise talent though to really soldifiy our future

Barnes is supposed to have franchise player potential.

We target Small Forwards and Centers HARD with these two picks.

Terrence Jones, Harrison Barnes, Marcus Morris, Jordan Hamilton, and Jan Kawhi Leonard should be our targets with the ~10th pick.

with JaJuan Johnson being the only real big man worth a hoot around ~20. Maybe Benson but boy will the pickings be slim

With the abundant of SF in this years, we should definitely look to draft the best Sf available to fill the void with Crash gone.

I like Jordan Hamilton. He's versatile and can play at SG/SF/pf.
He also like to push the ball off the rebound, just like Crash. Damn I miss Crash!

I'm telling you, Enes Kanter, if he ends up as good as expected, would help us rebuild very quickly. I like this guy.

no prejudice, but i want to stay away from drafting foreign centers, 9 times out of 10 they are busts or don't adjust well in the NBA.

He was going to play in college at Kentucky. If that had happened you probably wouldn't be too worried about it. But I can think of several foreign bigs who have done well. He doesn't have to be great, just starting caliber.

Now as we are thin at SF, I'm gonna play a homer wanting Veselý. He could make sense with all the 2013 play as he is under contract till 2013 (thus buyout shouldn't be that difficult, his team is not really economically strong) so he could stay in Europe and not helping us winning more till it would be needed (i.e. after 2013 draft).

That Hornets pick will be 21st, just my prediction.

I really like Honeycutt. Good head on his shoulders, feel for the game, IQ, passing ability, solid shooting stroke.
