He is a restricted this summer. If we want him we have to jump. His qualifiying offer is 5 mill.

Lester Hudson didn't play a game in the NBA this season, but his excellent performance at D-League camp in Chicago could make the 29-year-old a strong candidate to return to a NBA bench next season.

"After a day and a half at the Chicago camp, no one looks quite as ready as Lester Hudson, according to those in attendance," writes Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio.

Amico writes that one scout even called Hudson the equivalent of a late-first or early-second round draft pick in this year’s draft.

One big question, though, is whether another NBA team will be willing to give him a chance after Hudson failed to show up for a workout with the Charlotte Bobcats, an incident which caused his agent at the time, Tyler Glass, to drop him. That being said, there are plenty of teams out there that could use an experienced guard who can provide scoring off the bench -- Portland, Dallas, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Detroit, Washington, Utah and Phoenix all fit that description.

Just thought this was interesting. Did anybody know we were looking at Hudson (I assume when we brought in Pargo?) and that he blew off a workout with us?

I remember the Lester Hudson debacle when he brushed us off like dirt on his shoulder but I never cared to entertain it because Lester Hudson is nothing more than bench fodder, a poor man's Nate Robinson (but much taller). I just figured that maybe he had issues in his personal life that was more important to tend to than making a couple thousand dollars rotting on the Bobcats bench for a month.

He would be a nice backup.

Free Agency Big Board

Post#285 » by JMAC3 » Tue Jun 4, 2013 3:59 am

So I think we need to have some sort of system where we go through and we create a big board of what free agents we would like to see on this team. Rankings would be based off talent, fit for the team, and value based off salary.

I am not sure how this system would work, but I would assume a vote would happen over several days for each round, so for the first spot we would leave the voting open for 3 days, then move on to the second spot on the board. and so on...

Hopefully after several weeks we would have something like this..

1. Player A
2. Player B
3. Player C
4. Player D
5. Player E(currently voting on) so each person would use this setup, then bold their selection for Player E, leaving players A-D alone because the voting period for those guys would be over...

I know we have a free agency thread, but its so full of random thoughts here and there... this way we could have some sort of list to work off once free agency begins, kind of like a front office would use...

What our Thoughts? Do you guys want to get this thing rolling....

Should we vote for players who would make us better or for those who (albeit good additions perhaps) would be longshots to be impactful next year (due to young age, injury, logjam, whatever)? I see myself myself voting for the fromer in 2014, not sure about now, using cap space to get future value (players on rookie contracts next year included) seems better option to me as of now to the extent that I don't know what to want from free agency, other than Sessions like signing (and maybe amnestee vulturing).

We have to make re-signing Gerald a priority, unless we receive interest from a really good big man like Jefferson, Howard, Smith, or Pekovic. No, I'm not digging down into Chris Kaman, JJ Hickson territory, only the top tier of bigs. Outside of them, we have to make re-signing Gerald our biggest priority. After that, we go shopping for big men we can get for 3-5M/yr. We should take a nice long look at guys like Zaza, Speights, Earl Clark, and Carl Landry but McBob and Mullens should get re-signed.

The specific price tag is the thing though. I see a guy like Hickson on your list and sure, I like the guy as well. But that was a contract year season by a big at its best. He'll probably get 7 million, but his last season is what's all there is to him. A guy who can average 10pts/10rebs if he works his ass off for it. Not calling him a contract year player yet, but too many teams have got burnt for me to completely trust him.

I just want to resign McBob and get rid of Mully. I like Pek a lot but I think we'll wait until 2014 to try to sign some big free agents.

I really think Mully needs to be gone.

Obviously Gerald and McHugo need to stay and I think that 7m a year as mentioned is about as high as you go, McHugo anything upto 5m per sounds fair, his impact goes well beyond the box score and the way he helped Biyombo and Gilchrists game with his passing out of the post is worth the price alone.

I sound like a broken record but I really think we need to look at Mike Dunleavy/Dorell Wright and Antawn Jamison/Elton Brand.

I would love if we could land some combination of one perimiter and one post player on reasonable deals.

I imagine Dunleavy would help our team enormously.

yes on dunleavy, indifferent on wright, novelty yes on jamison (for cheap), no on brand. maybe i'm wrong, but i dont think brand has anything left in the tank. how many dallas center rejects do we need to get burned on? dampier, diop and haywood is enough.

Brand is a consumate professional on and off the court, he would add a lot to our locker room and would help tremendously with our bigs in terms of practice and development.

I have no interest in winning next season at all, obviously we need to keep playing at a respectable level but next offseason could be a real game changer for our franchise.

I would like at least 20 wins and a top 3 pick, signing guys like Brand would help us do that.

I kind of want to resign Mully* b/c I'm afraid that his awful play last season was due to recovering from the severe ankle sprain and I don't want to see him blow up for another team.

This. I'm positive his bad play was in large part a result of the injury. He was clearly a couple steps slow and considering this coaching staff seems focused on developing big men, where last year it seemed to focus on developing the small guys (Walker and Hendo), I think a one year deal with a team option for a 2nd seems to be the right way to go. I'm certain that I don't want to give up on Mully yet. Games like the one he had against Boston last year show off too much potential to give up on.

Yes to Dunleavy. This team desperately needs some 3 point shooters so Gordan can be benched, Mully can be told to stay in the paint, and the floor can be spaced for Kemba drive and kicks.

Francisco Garcia would be a great alternative to Dunleavy. Did anybody see that OKC series? Garcia shot 42% from 3land and effectively Deed up Durant. He shot almost 40% from 3 in regular season. I feel like he would be a Ramon Sessions-like sneaky pickup for us.

No, please no, to Antawn Jamison. He's a Ben Gordan type complainer who will look out for himself not help the youngsters. Brand I would entertain just to teach Biz and Co about effective defensive rotations, though I'd just as soon not have to watch him play.

If NO makes Robin Lopez available, I would grab him.
I really like Greg Smith, guy's a monster on the boards. would love to sign him.
Shavlik Randolph was surprisingly effective in his short stint in BOS. I feel like Shav & McBob would be a fun to watch surprisingly effective big man duo.
If we could nab Mozgov from DEN for 4 mln I'd do it.

Others I'd be okay to check out this year for cheap:
Jeremy Tyler
Ivan Johnson
Earl Clark
Jason Smith
Jon Leuer
Samuel Dalembert
Daniel Orton

I would wait until next summer to sign someone of Pekovic or Jefferson's stature. We need to have one of the 3 worst teams in the league this year.
