Scared to talk about Miles' situation probably. Who knows how that'll turn out...

Mitch better hit on the 2023 draft picks. If he can't do that then this 2023-24 should be his last season in this organization.

His last season should've been when he wanted to retire

No. He's just going to give the job to his college dorm mate and keep the cronyism going

Williams, Richards
Wemby/Pj
Miles/Hayward/Thor
Rozier/Martin/McGowens
Ball/(hopefully Maledon, probably Smith)

If they win lottery, that is still a good side.

Yep. The Wemby dream coming true would change everything.

Mitch's draft record is defensible overall, but trades have always been his weakest area. He's an old-school deliberate guy not a creative wheeler and dealer.

His track record with late 1sts and 2nd rounders is better than most dating back to the Lakers, so clearly he has some ability. I just wish we could let him make the picks and have someone a bit more high energy handle trades.

Again, people focus on the FO where the main problem is proving your team has playable assets. You can have a bad record, but if you have desirable pieces, you will be able to get something for it.
Especially those on rookie contracts.

And it starts and come from the pick choices, knowing its way harder to mess up on a #1 #2 or 3 then on #10ish. But Kupchak should do a better mix between young (and very young) fellows and more experienced/nba ready prospects. So far he's been gambling on young kids but it did not pay off for most of them (Kai Jones, Thor, Carey, booknight etc).

A lot of the mess comes from Bridges's situation though. It messed up last draft considering it happened at the very worst time and it also jeoperdize roster building and flexibility since you can't even project what it will cost/the return you can get at worst.

Apparently the local sports radio morning show went off on Mitch and MJ today for being a no-show for the fans lately.

It would be nice to hear from MJ every now and then to at least let us know that he has a pulse and actually gives two s**** about the franchise and is not just sitting back watching his money grow laughing all the way to the bank.

Or just sell the team already. He's already made like a thousand percent return on investment if he sells fir 2 bil.

There's been one consistent in this front office since 2006, it's jordan.

Funny (not funny) - but I was just telling a friend this yesterday - our FO is absolutely terrible at fan communication - borderline insulting. Not even mindless rah-rah stuff let alone any semblance of meaningful comms on franchise direction.

Proving your team has playable assets is a FO problem. As evidenced by the GM survey before the season, none of the other GM's respect ours, or give a **** about our team. We're the afterbirth of the league. And it isn't really an emotional take....its proven by our record and media attention. No one cares... we are a filler franchise. Not one poster here should be okay with this. Its not being negative all the time...its about change. Its hard for me to see change until MJ sells the team or changes his philosophy and gets rid of all the good ole boys in the clubhouse

I don't know if some posters are unaware but season ticket holders do receive communications regarding trades/plans when bigger things occur. Granted they are not going to tell us everything but it's not nothing either. There is a plan in place. Mitch is not sitting around all day long and he is apparently thinking about the future when making or not making trades.
For instance today we got this message about the draft from Kupchak -

As I know you’re aware, the NBA trade deadline was yesterday and we made two deals. First, we were part of a four-team trade in which we acquired a 2023 second-round draft pick from Philadelphia, a 2027 second-round draft pick from Portland and Svi Mykhailiuk from New York in exchange for sending Jalen McDaniels and New York’s 2024 second-round draft pick to the 76ers. We also acquired a 2028 second-round draft pick and Reggie Jackson from the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for Mason Plumlee. We appreciate the hard work and dedication Jalen and Mason showed during their time here.

We were very active in looking for ways to improve our team. It was important to us that we only made deals that made sense for our team moving forward into the future. In addition to acquiring multiple draft assets, these trades also provide the opportunity for more playing time for some of the younger players on our roster. This increased playing time will hopefully speed their growth and development. We are excited about completing the season with this team, and I think you will enjoy watching them play.

Our next opportunity to improve our team will be through the NBA Draft in June. We currently have two first-round picks and three second-round picks. We remain committed to building a winning franchise, and I am confident that our team will continue to grow.

I look forward to seeing you at Spectrum Center for our remaining home games this season and for many years to come.

Go Hornets!

From that I gather they probably passed on some deals that were not in our best interests (i.e. trying to rip us off) and made the deals that they needed to maximize youth playing time while adding some picks.

We have going forward -

ALL our first round picks, tons of second round picks, a star player, a top 5 pick incoming, a good young center or two, a couple of decisions to make at forward with some talent to pick from, a big expiring vet contract for next season, a playable combo guard with a good attitude, a good defensive guard returning from injury and 4 other picks in the draft this summer to maneuver with.
Sure, it is frustrating to spend $ on this team this year but I have not gone all chicken little and we decided to renew for next year because I can see a light at the end of the tunnel and it may be closer than people think.

Looks like Mitch actually had a press conference today

I do understand they regularly hold meetings with the season ticket holders, but the fan base is much larger than just season ticket holders. They need to occasionally be available to Media.

Kupchak admits the young roster, and not a deep one at that, did not react well to the early onset of injuries and says that's on him:

"Maybe next year we need a deeper team...

I’m not sure this year really shows where this team and it’s growth is…a lot of the stuff this organization has had to deal with this year doesn’t happen every year. We’ve got to be careful not to overreact.

Kupchak on Miles Bridges: "Miles pleaded (no contest) in October...the #NBA    is conducting an investigation... I don't know when the investigation is going to end. When it ends we'll have more information and go from there.

Kupchak on Bridges continued: "I'll leave it up to you to decide what kind of impact that had on our team.

You beat me to this. My deadly accurate calculations show that 99% of the global fanbase are not season ticket holders. Presser is a good sign - more please.

They sound like the words of a man who has yet to accept the fact that this roster stinks and still thinks they can largely run it back with this squad next year and things will be vastly different.

Anyway, it's just words. I know he's not going to openly talk about the glaring holes on the roster. Running it back with a lamelo Terry backcourt next year though...

If the team resigns PJ, brings back Bridges then trading McDaniels made a lot more sense. Still going to likely have Gordon around.

Plus 4 draft picks, Thor, Kai

Paying McDaniels 10+ million looks like a bad decision in those instances.
