Right. It's a tough pill to swallow but we are what we are as a team and short of fleecing another team for a star (like Beal) that was not going to change this season. Better to keep our pick and develop Monk/Miles then throw together a desperation trade just to make the playoffs when we're already on track for that anyway.
I just don't want a repeat of the Tyrus Thomas situation, trading a 1st for a player who doesn't even really help and who has no long-term place on the team. It's good to kick the tires but if the value isn't there walk away. Gasol for a 1st and players on bad contracts was fine, trading Monk + lightly protected 1st is a bridge too far.
