Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Clippers make the most sense for Rozier. Wall + Reggie Jackson works. The problem is that the only 1st they can trade is in 2028. They probably wouldn't be thrilled to trade their only tradable 1st for Rozier and if the Hornets aren't prioritizing picks then they probably aren't interested in a 1st that far out. I'd be interested in Terence Mann but I feel like theyd rather just keep him, so idk. I don't know anything about Brandon Boston.
My preferred moves at this point
- salary dump + pick/prospect deal for Rozier
- Plumlee for Thybulle + Korkmaz deal (cut Kork and eat his 5 mil next season)
- swap McDaniels for late 1st or young player with more years or restricted FA status
- cut Oubre if no deal for 2nd round pick
- fire Clifford

If we just do nothing...golly that'd be absurd. Mitch and MJ have done absolutely zip this year...Mitch just needs to go if he doesn't get up off his ass!!!

If they literally do nothing then they have a good argument for currently having the worst owner, GM, and coach, in the league. The Horncats hat trick.

We'll know in a few hours if MJ & Mitch forgot today was the trade deadline.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Honestly if we don't trade Mason or Oubre for 2nd rounders or anything for that matter I find it a real possibility we are interested in resigning them. Otherwise there would be no logical reason in my mind to not deal them for even a relatively insignificant asset like a protected 2nd rounder unless they were looking to resign them or something.

OKC got two 2nds for Mike Muscala. No excuse not to find a deal for Plumlee. I agree with LP that there is a very real chance they want to resign Plumlee and Oubre lol.

On a sidenote I wouldn't mind calling the Nets on Seth Curry. Defensive issues aside I'm tired of seeing us only make 7 to 11 threes a game half the time.

Holding out hope that these blockbuster deals were already being whispered about and we were waiting for the shoes to drop, respectively before making our move.
If we do nothing as the 4th worst team (1.5 games out from thee worst) then I honestly don't know where to go as a fan. Been a fan since the OG Hornets in the late 80s as a youngster, went to the old Charlotte Coliseum in the 90s as a kid, loved the W against the Celtics back in the playoffs, BDavis was my guy, ripped my heart out when they moved to New Orleans only to return as Bob's Cats in the early 00's.
The stink of MJ the Owner was clearly true as we've tumbled through a decade+ of losing seasons, awful cronyism and wasted draft picks, while just passing over incredible talent.
I believed in Mitch and still think he could be good at his job, but the last two years at the TDL is making me think the game and operation has passed him by.
Teams like us ALWAYS make deals at the deadline for future assets and more potential vs. short-term gain. Terry is our top asset not named LaMelo or Williams. He needs to be moved. He doesn't fit with Ball and is an undersized SG. He can help a contending team for sure.
Gordo should be moved, though next year makes a good deal of sense too being an expiring.....we've waited this long with Glass Joe, what's another year if a deal isn't there now.
Plumlee and Oubre are blocking younger guys that need the burn, and are good bench players that bring experience for playoff teams.
If Rozier, Oubre and Plumlee aren't moved today, we've failed.
If PJ and McD aren't part of the future, then they too should be moved. Losing them for nothing would further prove a lack of competency in this front office.
This is the year to blow it up, hit reset, and maximize your odds for Wemby or Scoot. Anything outside of this, is also a failure.
I'll give Mitch and MJ until 12 noon PDT today to prove they know what's up.
I've never left a team that I've followed for this long, but living in Seattle now and putting roots down here, I may convert to a Sonics fan once they are brought back. They were my 2nd team in the 90s that I enjoyed watching and they never got in the way of Charlotte, so it wouldn't be a difficult switch. These past 20+ years with the LOLcats/Horncats have been insanely difficult as fans.
We deserve better.
/endrant
TLDR; Do something Hornets.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
If you don't deal Mason today that has to be an assumption you want to resign him. No reason to let him walk for nothing when you could've gotten a 2nd rounder or at least something. If that's the case you have to look into dealing Richards. You can't go into next season with Mark Mason and Nick on the roster.
As far as Oubre I have no damn idea.

Five 2nds from the Bucks for Jae Crowder
How is Mitch not spazzing out with all these 2nd rounders available?

Lol surely we could get half a dozen 2nd rounders for Plumlee. Half kidding.

Or…wake me when it’s 5 o’clock somewhere.
I'll get excited again on nba lottery and nba draft night.
can't wait for the Hornets to fall to 7 and the Pels get the 1st pick from the Lakers/Pels being in the 12th slot

If semi-washed Jae Crowder is worth 5 second round picks, Plumlee and Oubre should both be worth 2-3 easily.

And yeah, if we don't trade them, the odds we resign them are unreasonably high.

Apparently they weren't going to be able to resign him because they need to use cap space if they keep Dlo and Rui. They will probably just roll with Vanderbilt/Gabriel as the backup centers I guess.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
I’m telling you….these deals going down for a few second round picks means we are NOT in the game, or we want TOO MUCH (since our team is a top 4 when healthy), or they really plan to keep all these misfit toys next season.
Mitch is washed up, Jordan is the WORST owner in the league, and Clifford is a total yes man to preserve his job and health insurance.
If we do nothing of any substance I will likely dump my long standing team and embrace the nearby Heat. Like previously well stated…it’s just becoming too hard to hang with such a mind numbed, self destructive organization.

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.
