Re: Hornets Lineup Talk
Pj is a solid stretch 4, decent defender, below average rebounder who can be excellent when motivated, unfortunately he seems rarely motivated

He's a player I've always wanted the Raptors to target.
PJ is a low ceiling guy who needs therapy to unlock his motivator button. He’d rather shoot 3’s than mix it up in the paint. Has decent size, can rebound if he’s wound up on a given night, can play decent defense when he’s into it, but he’s rarely really into it.
But he’s on a decent contract and we can’t afford to lose him as our 6th man.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

PJ is one of the worst players in the NBA and his contract is an albatross. Get rid of him immediately for an expiring

PJ isn't even in the bottom half of this roster, let alone the league. that said he's sucked this year. I hope his reputation from the last 4 years hold up in trade negotiations. He's fine when the team isn't a cluster **** but this team is always a cluster ****.
investigate Adam Silver

Pj for Grant Williams? Don't get my wrong, Grant is trash too, but he atleast gives us better locker room leadership.
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

Pj performed better as a starter, when miles was out he rose to the challenge of more responsibility, once players came back he parked up and relaxed

Re: Hornets Lineup Talk
PJ is best suited for the bench. He is an inconsistent player, but if he is playing well then you just find a way to get him 30 mins that night. He has scored double digits in 22/32 games this year. That is pretty solid production and 15 million isn't a bad contract for a bench player, especially when you have 2-3 starters on rookie contracts (Mark, Miller, 2024?)

Re: Hornets Lineup Talk
JMAC3, why are you defending Mitch? I feel like you're putting yourself on an island here. I get your argument and parts of it I agree. But I think what is being highlighted and maybe lost is the snowball effect of a bad decision or two. It's one thing to miss on a prospect or not pick the best one. Most GM's mess that up as the draft can very much be about luck and situation. But donating a lottery pick when you're not a good team "because you already have James Bouknight, JT Thor, Nick Richards and Kai Jones" is a fireable offense. And when we were looking like we could be competitive, the entire universe knew we had a massive hole at the C spot which Mitch was happy to ignore until the 2022 draft. Which we could've had a rotation of Mark Williams and Jalen Duren!
Declaring your own team is not a free agent destination, basically announcing to would be free agents, your fans and the world you're not going to even bother is a loser mentality. Sleeping through every trade deadline and free agency also shows Mitch's plan was to bank on a pile of second rounders and LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier and some late lottery picks to get you into the playoffs and win a series? Like c'mon. Mitch was bad in LA and being bad in LA is actually harder to do than being good in LA. He's another MJ pal that didn't work out.

He's talented and capable. Especially when he takes it into the paint. But he's inconsistent as hell, settles for too many 3's (shooting a career low 31% this season I believe) and looks like he takes nights off. He's like John Collins in a lot of ways. There's a ton of talent in there, it just doesn't come out half the time.

I am not defending Mitch, just being honest.
I said he relies too heavily on 2nd rounders, doesn't spend MLE, isn't sexy in FA or Trades.
but I am not going to lie and say he has been bad at drafting. Every GM misses on picks, everyone.
If you want to try and hate on him for missing on 2/7 picks then that is ignorant to the draft process and normal hit rate.
Drafting both Duren and Mark Williams would of had the board going after his head for the past 15 months, but now that Mark has missed a month lets do revisionist history and say that would have been the go-to move... I think it is a bad move, but we also landed Nick Smith Jr who probably should have been a lottery pick this past draft because of the trade.
The dude is gone after this year, we all know it. I don't get the point of crying and bitching about him everyday is.

PJ is one of the worst rotation players in the NBA. sorry, should have clarified
dude is straight up trash. every metric is horrible. negative impact on both ends of the floor. literally replacing him with a cheap g league player with more energy would be a better option. he offers no redeeming qualities to this team and we made a mistake paying him. hopefully some other team is interested and we get off his dead money

Re: Hornets Lineup Talk
PJ's role is hard to nail down. On paper, he fits with just about every team in the league as a 3&D player who can maybe play 3 positions. Those are very valuable even if they're average players overall.
But this team is broken. He'd look a lot better with actual playmakers besides Melo + other players who can provide spacing. He isn't a 6th man, he is a teams 4th/5th starter or the 7th man. As 6th men are usually meant to be scorers.

You mean Nathan Mensah and Leaky Black? lol
PJ shooting is slumping, but if shoots career average he is a very good bench forward.
Expecting him to play small ball 5 next to small ball 4 Miles Bridges with Ish Smith and Nick Smith backcourts and saying he is a trash is probably not really a smart analysis of him as a player.

why are we making excuses for a guy who’s had every opportunity to shine or bring something, anything to the table for a really bad NBA team that is dying for someone to step up?
he doesn’t have it. therefore he’s not worth the money. go out and get christian koloko, would make the same friggin impact
i’m so sick of this team paying useless players that can be replaced with scraps off the trash heap and nothing happens or it actually improves the team
PJ got paid and is worse than ever. he’s the forward version of 2012 ben gordon. we all should hope someone takes his useless contract so his money can be of better use eventually

Re: Hornets Lineup Talk
you guys are still in the mindset that we are so close to competing. we are not. we are one of the furthest away if not the furthest. PJ will not contribute anything to this team making the playoffs now, or 3 years from now. get rid of his salary and take on a bad contract for picks, for example. just so sick of the status quo

Freaking preach my man. If we never drafted PJ and he was on a semi decent team we'd be dying to trade for him as a backup 4/5.
