As 6th man, who does Lin sub for from the starting lineup?

The Hornets signed free agent guard Jeremy Lin on July 9, 2015. The following is the transcript from General Manager Rich Cho’s conference call with the media after Lin’s signing.
On if the Hornets are done in free agency now:
There’s still potential to do something else. We’re still looking at a couple of things. We’re not entirely done yet.
On if he expects to wait for the market to settle down before jumping back into free agency:
We’re still looking around right now and we aren’t going to wait a long time. I think if the opportunity presented itself then we’ll do something.

C Jefferson (30), Kaminsky (9), Hawes (9)
PF Zeller (22), Williams (22), Hawes (4)
SF Kidd-Gilchrist (28), Batum (20), Taylor (0)
SG Lin (18), Lamb (15), Daniels (10), Hairston (5)
PG Walker (34), Lin (14), Roberts (0)
Actually, the Hornets guards rotation, aside from Walker, doesn't look so great. Hairston and Roberts have terrible shooting numbers. Lamb has underwhelmed. Daniels, I remember from his Houston days, is a deadeye 3pt shooter but he's one-dimensional so couldn't get more than 15-20 minute a game. No wonder Lin chose the Hornets, there's no competition for playing time!
Batum and MKG will start at the wings, Lin will backup the 1 and play some 2 as well. I really can't see more than 10 guys getting minutes, save for blowout situations. In fact Clifford likes using 9.
PG: Kemba, Lin
SG: Batum, Lamb
SF: MKG
PF: Zeller, Kaminsky
C: Al
9th man is probably either Marvin or Hawes. Marvin if we play more small, with Cody/Frank sliding over to the 5. Hawes if we insist on having a dedicated backup center and keep with rigid positional requirements.

Based on Cho's statements, I don't believe Roberts is even in the rotation. Sure, Roberts played with Mo Williams in the 2nd unit some last season, but I think that was a inclination on how horrible Clifford viewed Hairston as wing depth more than his typical stubborness

Batum is excited

If it is, may as well just view it as a one year deal because there is no way he's exercising it.

The Bi-Annual is only worth $2,139,000, add on a second year at the max 4.5% raise and it comes out to $4,374,255 in total.
Year 1: $2,139,000
Year 2: $2,235,255
What's interesting to me is that we didn't opt to use part of the MLE instead. The MLE can be used every year, but the Bi-Annual can only be used once every two years. Makes me think there's still a plan for the MLE.
Very interesting, Blackout.
We didn't use the Bi-Annual last year, so I guess that's why.

Yeah, but my point was using the Bi-Annual this year means we absolutely can't use it next year, so next year we'd only have the MLE. Whereas, we could've instead used part of the MLE to sign Lin and then have both exceptions intact next season. Makes me think we're still gonna use the MLE.
