(substituted Lamb for Belinelli for money purposes)

It'll work if you send them Lamb. If this happened it'd probably be a three-team deal with Belinelli moving from Sac.

So you think we'd send out Belinelli AND Lamb?

That'd leave us pretty thin on the wings and put a substantial amount of pressure on Daniels to produce.

I'm not sure I believe any of it. Just throwing ideas out there.

This has to be the highest post count of a thread on RGM Not about the player.

rudy gay is the mystery player going to the bucks. he fits what they are doing roster-wise. salaries with monroe are a match and they are trying to move him. what parts go where, i am not sure. maybe lamb or belli shuttled over to mil.

of course, none of this could happen and the hornets end up rolling out belli and lamb on the second unit

Is there any concrete reason why the Hornets have not consummated the Richardson-Belinelli trade? I thought they would have ironed out the details by now, unless those details--as many have speculated--are more complicated than a simple player-for-player trade.

Right now, the Hornets have their entire starting roster under contract:

Walker
Batum
Kidd-Gilchrist
Williams
Zeller

But the bench only has:

Lamb
Kaminsky
Hawes
Harrison (unguaranteed)
Daniels (qualifying offer extended)
Richardson/Belinelli (hanging fire)

Corrections welcome.

You can't just acquire a player for no outgoing salary without either sending out a player of near-equal value or having the cap space to fit their contract.

Based on what we know from this deal there is no player going out (though there has been a lot of speculation), and we won't have cap space to take the contract straight up until Lee and Al officially sign elsewhere July 7th.

Marc Stein

The Bucks, like the Knicks and Bulls, don't currently have the cap space to sign Dwyane Wade BUT could get there by, say, moving Greg Monroe

Thanks! So the holdup is primarily the cap space?

On the surface, yes. But I, like many, are hoping there's some other holdup with another piece or two being involved.

This probably is what it is, unfortunately, a garbage trade. I hope we back out and just keep Malachi, even though I don't think he is any good either.

I didn't know that Belli had a penetration game. I thought he was just a spot-up shooter.
Remember also he won the 2014 3pt contest.

I think the staff wanted a guy ready to contribute because we have had too many "young players" to train the last years...

Now we still have a very young core...: Cody - Walker - MKG ... All in our starting five.
Our bench: Frank - Lamb.

None of them are really "experienced" players IMO.

With the loss of Jefferson, even though our team captain is Walker without doubt, we have 3 commandants (Batum, Marv and Marco) with experience that will help Walker to be a great leader.

And for what it's worth :

Let's hope we're getting this version of Belinelli:

I'm not expecting to get the version of Belinelli that can get to the rim in Radu's posted highlights. Reading what Spurs and Kings fans have written, he lost a step athletically. I'll still take the version that knocks down shots and is a capable playmaker shown in the other highlight videos. He feels like a guy with high bbiq that will be a net positive when he's on the court and will fit in with the rest of the squad. I like the move a lot more now that Sessions is on the roster.

so does Sessions signing put to bed the notion that Marco was signed to play point guard?

I never saw him as a primary ball handler, but a replacement level version of Batum

You're probably right about his athleticism, but from all the video's of him i've been watching today, it feels like his "rim attack" usually starts with a pump fake and end up with a floater before any contacts with the opponent's bigs.

And I totally agree with you that this guy had a high bbIQ, you can see it by his pump fakes. He feels the game well.
