Not sure I want to know with how this team is. With our luck he probably got it caught in a door jerking off at 4am listening to Leona Lewis

True story. Think it was maybe 2008ish? My kids mom and I split up. And I listened to that. A lot. Yeah that's pathetic, but whatever. Young and dumb.

While everyone is still fresh on Summer League, figured I would post Bouknight highlights from last year.
It is so evident we had nobody on this years SL team that could get into paint or create shots for themselves like he can.
McGowens was closest thing, but he doesn't have the quick twitch burst that Bouknight flashes here.

He even has some nice passes, even though a few times I can argue it was clearly better for him to pass instead of going for the difficult finishes he does in a few of these spots.

Watching those Bouknight highlights, we definitely didn’t have anyone in this years SL capable of that. Get this man healthy and in the right mindset to get to work out there.

His development is a big deal this summer. I know he missed SL but that's not to much. I hope he gets focused because we will actually need bouk this year. He has the tools and is a great athlete at almost 6'5 with a 6'8 or 9 wingspan. Where monk failed is where he has to exceed. He's a lil bigger than monk hopefully his mental is as well. I think we were all disappointed to see how little he played last year, and we knew he was capable of more. We need him to take a step forward to offset of unfortunate events that we have stammered through.

if he doesn't bring the energy and right attitude Clifford won't play him.
Clifford did show a lot of patience and put in a lot of effort with PJ Hairston, so he will have the opportunity he's just gotta show he will work for it

Clifford has a very specific type. He loves a strong plus size wing that gives effort defensively and **** everything else. See: Hairston, Lee, Hendo, CDR, MKG, MCW

He will fall in love with Cody Martin, guaranteed.

Cdr, lee and hendo could score, you just have to put the effort into defense. I don’t have a problem with that.

Hairston was only played because mkg was injured and that team needed a dedicated wing defender

I still think Bouknight can be really good but I think he's gotta show a lot more this season. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for last season since he wasn't given any minutes but if we don't end up bringing in another wing, there should be more minutes available to him this year with Miles out of the picture and definitely when Hayward goes down... and if we end up sucking he should be given all the minutes

A lot of guys made the second year leap last season beyond Ball & Edwards guys like Maxey, Bane, Bey, Anthony, Haliburton and even Vassell went from 5.5 ppg to 12.3 ppg. I'm not sure if I'd go as far as to say it's a make or break year for Bouk but I think the vast majority of fans are gonna completely write him off if he doesn't step up this season

If you look at the depth chart even without Miles Bouknight is ninth man and that’s before you start talking about Kai Thor and Mark Williams

I think the rehiring of Steve Clifford is also bearish for Bouknight.

I just don’t see Bouknight getting a lot of playing time this yr

I worry about his injury.

This was a key summer for him and also his two main offensive skills he needs to improve are shooting and ball handling, so it being a wrist injury could make it especially bad.

In the grand scheme of things it shouldn't be a huge deal, but Clifford doesn't care at all about player development and a young player who is on the outside of the rotation looking in can't really afford set backs at this point (hes gonna miss training camp! lol), so I also wonder if he'll even play much.

I'd rather watch a young player with a chance to improve taking bad shots, making bad decisions, and not playing defense, than watch Oubre do the same stuff like hes been doing the last seven years. I'd be ok with just forcing Bouk most of Oubres minutes and seeing what happens, but idk if I can see that happening in this situation.

He's still clearly behind Melo, Terry, Hayward and Cody for minutes at the ball handler/wing positions

It really gets hard for him if Oubre is part of the rotation, if we sign and play a backup pg like kemba, or if cliff uses either mcdaniels or Thor as a backup wing.

There's a lot working against him getting minutes.

His best hope is for cliff to use him or Terry as backup to melo, Cody to strictly be Hayward backup, oubre to continue to refuse to defend and mcdaniels to play exclusively at pf.

Or else he needs to be so good as to make Terry expendable sooner than later.
