Clifford story behind a pay wall. Can anyone please summarize his comments? Thanks in advance!
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: I'm BACKKKKKKKK!!: The Steve Clifford Thread
Well, here's what stuck:
RB: What do you think is the next step for LaMelo? What does that look like?
SC: He has his things in different areas that he’s been working on. But I think the biggest thing for him — and I think he would tell you the same thing — is team success. The best players ultimately in our league are always judged by how well their team does. And I know he’s motivated for us to be a playoff team, which would be a good step. And I think in talking with him, that seems to be his vision.
RB: The schedule came out a few weeks ago. Do you usually look for anything in particular when you initially see it to break it down?
SC: What wins in the NBA is balance. You’ve got to be good on offense, you’ve got to be good on defense, you’ve got to be good at rebounding. Those are the teams that win. That’s been proven year after year after year. Our game has changed a lot, but what hasn’t changed is that. You can go back 20 years. If you look at the teams that go deep into the playoffs — almost every year, there’s been some outliers — but usually they are teams that are, say, top 10 in offense or defense and then maybe top 12, maybe 13, 14 in other areas.
RB: Lastly, Miles Bridges is facing a legal case and things are still pending. What if anything can you say about his status at the moment?
SC: With the legalities involved, I can’t discuss that at all. I’m just not in a place where I can do that.

Interviewer: LaMelo, what would you say is your biggest weakness?
LaMelo: Team success.

^^ lol he answered none of those questions. that's what stuck?
(not that I expected him or anyone else, to say anything about the Bridges situation)

Re: I'm BACKKKKKKKK!!: The Steve Clifford Thread
Thanks for the summary Wilson115. Indeed, not much insight beyond the obvious (playoff teams do all three main things well…duh!). Also feel the answer on LaMelo was right out of the cliche bin. No way he can comment on the wife beater.
Clearly there is no calvary charging over the hill to save this team. If you can’t make the move preseason you likely don’t have any moves coming prior to the deadline…at which time it may be far too late.

Nick, The new Jason Maxiel, will keep Mark Williams glued to the bench. Cool, cool, cool.

Re: I'm BACKKKKKKKK!!: The Steve Clifford Thread
Nick Richards the second round pick? I strongly feel he earned more playing time than received from JB. It never made sense to me. Whenever he was in there protecting the rim, it changed our identity on defense. But we only witnessed the difference in spurts. JB relied on Plumlee way too hard. I swear that dude (Plumlee, not JB) has incriminating photos of Mitch Kupchak.
Nick doesn't feel comfortable moving the ball but he's aggressive rebounding and finishing. He adds edge as a rim protector. His skillset is quite limited but he provides the specific skills the defense desperately needs (evidenced by the Mark Williams pick), but when you look at his FT% he towers over Mason (70% vs. 40%). I get that Nick maybe cost points fouling but he makes it 5-5 on offense, and JB did a piss poor job factoring in Nick deterring attacks to the rim.
Mason was never a deterrent. On the other end, he cost points at the line and passed out of easy buckets close to the rim with too much frequency for my taste.
Good for Nick. The players raved about Nick last training camp and to an extent JB, but JB got cold feet in game situations. And Nick spent way too much time on the bench.

Ya, I hope they trade Plumlee if Clifford starts Richards or else Williams isn't going to touch the court.

A scenario:
If Udoka is fired, and whatever his situation is turns out to be not so bad.
Would you fire Cliff to hire him?

I think he's our next GM. Don't forget him lobbying for Donovan Mitchell over Monk. And possibly Booker over Kaminsky??? Not sure on that one. He's a good scout.

Probably? Depends on the situation i guess.... but my reservations would have absolutely nothing to do with Clifford
I'd have re-hired Borrego before doing what we did

I'd fire Cliff right now for nothing to do with Udoka
