Stauskas has more size, can shoot better (slightly, Harris had a dip in shooting his soph year but he was lights out his freshmen year, the stroke was there), Harris is better defensively, both can handle the ball (I give the edge to Stauskas barely).

Its closer than you think, but I would give it to Stauskas.

It would not shock me if on our team Nik ends up the better defender of the two. I would really like to end up with both so we can compare. Nik at 9 and Harris at 24.

Gary Harris + MKG over Kanter + McDermott?

Wow.

I wasn't really commenting on Kanter. Just saying I don't want to see MKG out.

I do feel Kanter is a bit overrated though. He struggled last year. So I'll take the elite defender and an average SG over an unknown offense only guy and an average C.

I really don't like the sound of this.

Following the combine, Stauskas said he could envision himself playing in Boston. He spent two years at St. Mark's School in Southborough, Mass., prior to landing at Michigan. He played against current Celtics president Danny Ainge's son in both high school and in AAU competition. Additionally, current Celtics coach Brad Stevens has long known Michigan assistant LaVall Jordan, dating back to their time at Butler.

At the combine, Stauskas said his interview with the Celtics was "really short, but very positive."
"They had a lot of good things to say about me," he added.

Don't like to say I told you so.....................so I wont.

Yes you did. I forgot how smart Ainge is and I realized the Jazz will take his guy Vonleh, which totally opens up the auditions for Ainge + company to really do their homework.

I'm now convinced Stauskas will be the new Hayward for Stevens. He fits really perfectly with a slasher like Rondo who can't shoot. Rondo is a tenacious defender as well and J. Green is big and tough for a SF. Stauskas really fits there over any of the guys after Vonleh.

So we're going to take Harris or Young, probably Harris.

Lets not kid ourselves. I bet even Stauskas will tell you he wont ever be the defender Harris is. You are reaching now, severely. Stauskas is a poor defender.

Stauskas is a much better offensive player in my opinion. Harris can shoot and handle the ball, but he's not as good as Stauskas.

It probably is closer than I'd like to admit, but I do think Stauskas ends up being a much better NBA player.

Nik is smart and has the length to be a good team defender. Harris won't be better at this level and his man defense was only average at the college level. He will step backwards due to size and Nik will work hard to improve like he did last year. One guy got worse from freshman to sophomore and the other got better. I think in 5 years Harris goes down as Acie Law type of value. Nik will be the guy people are trying to steal from us like Klay is in GS.

This conversation is horrible enough already because I'm realizing how slim our chances of getting Stauskas are.

Stauskas was better his soph year because he played behind Hardaway Jr his freshman year, he even admitted that. Stauskas has horrible lateral movement and cant move his feet that well on defense. Is he a hard worker and will improve on that? You bet he will, but Harris will as well.

Well at least the nightmare won't be so shocking on draft night. Stauskas will be a Celtic.

You have got to be kidding. I love Nik and want him over Gary at 9, but they're not even on the same planet defensively.

Harris is a defensive terror and will make an impact in the NBA, regardless of his size. He averaged 2 steals a game, but it seemed more like 10 because he's always getting tips and deflections. There were games where it seemed like he was going to steal the ball every single time down the court.

Nik wasn't a great defender in college because he lacks the lateral speed. That's not gonna get any better at the next level. He's a hard worker, but so is Harris. Trying to imply that Nik will magically improve on defense and Harris won't is ridiculous.

The defense is what Cho is really building as the foundation, it's what he really likes about Harris and the reason why he attended the MSU-UM game earlier this year and likely scouted Harris hard all year long. He's a safe pick because he will hold his own on both ends of the floor. He has the potential to become a 3 pt threat with Kemba back there. It just sucks that we won't have a lights out shooter like all these glamour teams have. I'm devastated.

Harris is a hell of a shooter. Don't let his drop in percentage fool you. We all said the same thing about Beat his freshmen year, and now look at him. Is Harris going to be as good as Beal? Maybe, but he is a much better defender.

As good as Beal, maybe? I'm still too mad to open my mind to that. Not ready. Stauskas shot 44% as a freshman and followed it up with an increased workload, more production all around yet stuck right at 44 again as a sophomore.

I'm hurt.

I just hate. I won't get to see Harris in five years. I don't get euro league games as far as. I know.

I just feel like you have the defense covered on one wing, so go get an offensive threat on the other. We were a top 10 defensive team last year with a SG who is an average defender. We were bottom 5 in offense for a lot of the season. Go fix what is broken. Get the best scoring SG you can find. Stauskas, if he is willing to work hard, will be no worse of a team defender than Hendo and he'll give us twice as much offense.
