I've railed on and on for awhile now about the importance of a clean cap sheet. If guys aren't needle movers, then what's the point in giving them 3,4,5 year deals?
It's like settling for the ugly chick because you know she puts out instead of cutting bait and looking for something better.
Does it sting to lose your main backup PG? Yeah.
Are we going to look back 4 years from now (or sooner) when guys like Melo or Miles need a second contract, or a trade opportunity opens up, etc. and be glad this space was left open? Probably.
Can you get Devonte's production, or close to it, for less committed money? Yeah.
