Teams seem to want one or more of the following from their bigs these days, in addition to rebounding and post defense:
* Strong ability to pass to enable better offense
* Ability to stretch the floor by shooting 3s
* Have great size and athleticism
* Strong pick and role performance

Tyler didn't really have any of those. He's not a bad player. He's just not a really good one in this particular era of the NBA. He would have had more value on some 80's or 90's teams. I'm totally OK with him as an end of the bench guy, but he just wan't a great fit for what Cliff was trying to do.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Tyler can't space the floor. But he has size and athleticism. He's an excellent rebounder and he can play pick and roll.
I don't know whether he can pass or not, Clifford didn't give him enough playing time to show us.

Clifford just doesn't appreciate bigs like Tyler or Biyombo.
He prefers bigs who can score and guards who can defend. But I'm sensing that he's changing.
Most NBA stats aren't credible. At most times the people who interprets those data are biased, or the data themselves are flawed. Basketball is just too complicated with so many uncontrollable variables.

Tyler is not a great passer. His strengths are in other areas ... and apparently eating cookies.

You know, if he were still on the team I would totally nominate him to be Cookie Monster from now on.

2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Seeing all the injured bigs on the roster just in the first month of the season--Zeller, Hibbert, Marvin Williams--and the streakiness of Kaminsky and Hawes, I still think it would make sense to get Tyler on the roster for at least a 10-day contract. This team needs another guy with toughness and an intensity to match Kidd-Gilchrist. He is a phone call and 140 miles away and ready to play, from all I hear. Christian Woods may have potential next year. The Hornets need someone else who is reliable right now.

I admit this is wishful thinking because I miss seeing the guy play. I have also seen some real weaknesses in the overall roster in the last few games against good teams.

Be a fan all you want, but time to let the Hansbrough being a part of the Hornets' rotation this year dream die.

I like Hansbrough, but I'm not sure how he currently helps our injury situation. We're down Marvin and Batum. We need another wing and a stretch 4. Hansbrough, if added, would still be the 4th string center behind Cody, Hibbert and Hawes and we still wouldn't have a true backup for Frank. It would still be Hawes sliding over to PF and Cody, Hibbert and maybe Hawes covering C minutes. Now if Hibbert and or Hawes are injured or traded, then Hansbrough would make sense.

Now you're talking. He'd be perfect for this team. Hybrid 3/4 who could drain corner 3s, great off-the-ball movement and underrated off ball defense. Give me that guy all day long.
