And OneTermPat has spoken

Governor Pat McCrory released the following statement on the NBA's decision about the 2017 All-Star Game:

“The sports and entertainment elite, Attorney General Roy Cooper and the liberal media have for months misrepresented our laws and maligned the people of North Carolina simply because most people believe boys and girls should be able to use school bathrooms, locker rooms and showers without the opposite sex present. Twenty-one other states have joined North Carolina to challenge the federal overreach by the Obama administration mandating their bathroom policies in all businesses and schools instead of allowing accommodations for unique circumstances. Left-wing special interest groups have no moral authority to try and intimidate the large majority of American parents who agree in common-sense bathroom and shower privacy for our children. American families should be on notice that the selective corporate elite are imposing their political will on communities in which they do business, thus bypassing the democratic and legal process.”

some of these people (like McCroy) just need to do research and try to learn about something before they make a law about it.

here is an article (about HB2) with a doctor explaining gender identity in a sound bit.

You think Pat "Liberal education isn't valuable" McCrory can read something that long?

Pat McCrory's statement is rage inducing. He just proved its a Republican vs. Democrat piss party and nothing more.

God I cannot wait to pull that **** lever in November.

Well, i mean, press the screen I guess. He's lucky somebody doesn't rip the lever clear off and turn him into a piece of pumpkin pie with it.

The question becomes why is the backlash not coming on Roberts as well. The state warned this was going to be the outcome if they forced the bill that failed in 2015 through in 2016 and here it is. She knew this was a very likely result and spat in the face of the state to see if they would respond.

I am just pissed that any of this started in the first place. The two party systems has become way to much of a what can I do to piss the other side off deal and is no longer what is best for the people. Two side go to extremes here and fans suffer the wrath.

Yeah...

But at the same time if you give it more thought, it's not that surprising, at least not in this state.

Big businesses/corps/money --> Typically in large modern open-minded metro area --> Typically means blue color party (at least in this state) --> Typically pro LGBT agenda --> Typically didn't vote these fools in

Less big businesses presence --> Typically characteristics of rural area -> Typically means red color party --> Typically not a big fan of LGBT agenda --> Typically did vote these fools in

If you look at the state election map after redistricting (after 2010?), high concentration of blue color was in the metro Charlotte area and metro Triangle area. Rest of the state was mostly red.

With all the recent redistricting activities, I believe it still favors color of red. So the optimism of change in the upcoming November may be overstated. Thus, inductive reasoning may suggest minimum change to the HB2 stance. Therefore, 2019 ASG for Charlotte may go kaboom too.

It's sad & stupid. But unfortunately to say, it's politics at its best.

Good points all. Yeah I figure the legislature may be out the window given the gerrymandering. But the governorship is lost for patty cakes in my opinion.

Interestingly some professor told me gerrymandering was named after a senator or something called Gerry Mander? can somebody confirm?

Its true that voting out McCrory is pointless if the state senate and house remains republican majority. Nothing will change. They will dig their heels in the sand while the state loses money and MJ will be plotting his escape with the Hornets to a more liberal state.

New governor + legal challenge maybe gets it done.

Really wish the supremes would've made LGBT a protected class right about now, although they did what they had to do to get that case through.

Rational basis with bite anyone?

Substantive due process right to privacy?]

Fundamental right to take a **** - strict scrutiny????

Whitfield said top Hornets officials, including team owner Michael Jordan, met with Silver in Las Vegas recently to propose the 2019 compromise. That provides additional time to lobby the General Assembly to change the lawto the NBA’s satisfaction.
