Works seeing how long he's been on one.

Mark perimeter defense against Tatum + PJ help block
https://the-high-low.com/video/ids?ids=23MZud

PJ really seems to like playing with Mark on offense. They've been running some 4/5 pick and rolls and PJ has been one of the better people at getting Mark the ball.

I like LaMelo/PJ/Mark going forward. Miles would likely be another core piece if he returns. Cody Martin is a nice versatile role player if his knee isn't toast. Hayward can be a good 6th man next season. Richards I like at backup C. All the top draft options are PGs that can play with LaMelo and forwards, so they can go best player available and have a role for them right away.

PJ has been so bad all year with advanced metrics, just confirming that we don't need him

It matches the eye test for sure. Mark has been a steadying presence on defense, cleaned the glass and held his own on offense.

Kelly Oubre not being a net negative might be the most shocking part of that graphic. I was wrong about you man dime, you're perfectly mediocre.

Him being able to at least guard on the perimeter like that on an average level is what will separate him from being attacked in the playoffs (if we ever get there) like Rudy Gobert.

Doubt he cares, but Clifford robbed him of a good chance to make an all-rookie team.

And the guy we picked over him, McDaniels was 1.6 WAR which would’ve been tied for second on this team. Would’ve also cost way less.

McDaniels has 13 points total in 2 games for Sixers.

Meanwhile PJ has scored ...
17 pts on 7/14 shooting
22 points on 8/14 shooting
22 points on 9/13 shooting

There's more to the game than just scoring. In addition the Sixers are a better team and you are comparing a starter on a terrible team to a rotation player on a contender. PJ's numbers and usage would come down a lot if he was playing for the Sixers.

I would agree, PJ would probably have much better advanced numbers on a good team with a smaller role and easier shots. Meanwhile McDaniels had an opportunity to play a lot more this year for Hornets and did not excel in a starter role.

It isn't a coincidence that the team started winning when Mark entered the starting lineup. He's the full package; he's gigantic, skilled, smart, and a decent athlete as well. If we can find someone to replace Hayward this team will be cooking with fire.

He's an all-star and future top 40 player if he can figure out a jumper and/or 3 ball. Rest of his game is already solid for a rookie with limited experience.

to be fair, i'd argue gordon is one biggest reason for hornets 4 game win streak
22.5/6.5/4.5 on 61/70/77 %s
melo also with a ton more responsibility in halfcourt with mason gone, which is a good thing
but yeah, mason was always fools gold. mark should have been starting (or at least 50/50 in mins) as early as start of 2023 after he got back from dominating gleague
